How I Edit My Photos

Hello my lovelies,

So this is a slightly different post than usual I know, but actually it’s been requested along with people always commenting on my photography so I thought I would share with you the process I use. Don’t worry guys it’s super cheap and actually takes no time at all. I don’t spend a lot of time on my photos, mainly because I’m not creative in the slightest. I have really pushed myself with the whole blogging and actually it has taught me a lot. But, also when you read these types of posts they have crazy lighting and backdrops etc. Seriously I don’t have the time to set it all up or the want to spend my money on all the equipment – of course this is a personal preference.

When I started blogging, for me the words came naturally as soon as I choose a topic I could write for ages. It’s the photos that really stump me and why it takes so long to put up. Now, this isn’t down to the editing it’s literally down to inspiration and creativity. It’s just not me and although I follow some amazing blogs & their Instagram’s for inspiration the photos I take never really wow me. Maybe I’m just very harsh on myself as many people love my photo’s but I’m never that happy.

One thing that has made me happy is to realise that actually to have pretty pictures you don’t need the latest camera or all the fancy lights and backdrops for your pictures to look amazing. It’s something I have always thought about but actually I want to spend my money on make up and skincare because I’m a shopaholic, I know I have no shame.

I have always used my iPhone 6s to take my pictures, if you see the pictures below you’ll see how they come out without editing. They aren’t bad and actually I’m pretty happy with it. People worry that they aren’t good enough for blogging or Instagram because they don’t have a really expensive camera with a fancy lens – to start off with you really don’t need it!

Now you may think, hmm that’s quite bright and not natural lighting – no it’s not I have two tricks up my sleeve. One is that in my blogging room, my lovely Dad actually put in white LED spot lights in the room. They are bright and I don’t sit with them on very often but actually they are a massive life saver especially in the winter months.

The other is a handy little gadget which is a ring light that clips onto your phone. I believe these have been around for a while but it’s not something I have ever really thought of buying to be honest. I never thought I would get the use out of it although I thought they would be handy when you want to take a picture and it’s dark.

I was very kindly sent one of these gadgets by Radiance Ring and was asked to try it out, realistically I thought yeah this would be handy for nights out. Not blogging I know but you know when your out with your friends and you get awful pictures because of the light – yup whip this out and you’re all good. However, I thought that it was worth a try to see what impact it would have on my photos.

I can notice such a difference, below is the picture of the ring itself with just my phone and my LED spot lights. Not bad right? BUT the picture above has just the ring light.. Personally I love them both, mainly because they give slightly different effects – not bad though from a tiny little light.

The ring light is SO simple to use, literally clip it onto your phone press the button and the light comes on. I was worried that it would block one of the cameras on my phone but it doesn’t. The ring light has three different levels of lighting depending on what you are looking for, see below the 3 pictures..

My other concern is that I thought it was going to be heavy and weigh my phone down but it’s really light and its pretty durable. I actually took this on a night out to give it a little test and actually I was really impressed. I shoved it in my bag and whipped it out when I needed it to. Everyone was actually really impressed by how the pictures turned out. The picture below is me and my sister on her 21st birthday with the only light in the room being disco lights. Now it’s no professional picture but I can only imagine how awful it would look without it.

Once I have taken the picture I do edit it. Now, I don’t mean sorting out my eyes or whitening certain areas really it’s just a filter. I use VSCO on my phone, it’s a free app to download and I know a lot of bloggers use this. I literally put every photo through the same motion which is to put the T1/Moody filter on the photo to +12 and I’m good to go. All my photos then look like the photo at the start of this post. Simple right?

It takes me all of two seconds to edit and I’m happy with that. People may be shocked or think I’m not a great blogger but this is just me & I wanted to share just how easy it is to achieve semi-decent pictures.

The only thing to purchase is the ring light, which actually I highly recommend. It’s a good little investment and is something that just isn’t limited to blog photos. Seriously I hate waking up after a night out and realising I don’t have a good photo and they are all pitch black. Not no more, hello beautiful photos!

Fellow bloggers – how do you edit your photos?

*please note I was kindly sent this product to review, however all the opinions are my own.

Empties #14

Hello my lovelies,

It has actually taken me a while to accumulate products for this post for once. Normally in less than a month the box is overflowing. Not this time, a good 6 weeks! To be honest I was just bored of looking at the box and I thought that it was time to say goodbye and write this post up. I have a mix of products that are quite frequent in these posts as well as some real gems that I am really sad to see go. I feel like I really need to cut these introductions down, I just like to babble I’m sorry!

Batiste – Dry Shampoo in Sweetie see here

My favourite ever hair care product which I would be completely lost without. I go through these fairly quickly because I use it near enough every day. Hair not feeling fresh? Dry Shampoo. Need a little volume? Dry Shampoo. Want your hair to smell nice? Dry Shampoo. It just has so many uses and I can’t be without it. I have stuck to this scent for quite a long time now and I just can’t be bothered to try and find a new scent that I like – sometimes it’s good to stick to what you know. The best dry shampoo EVER.

Maybelline – Lash Sensational Mascara see here

Now, this was a very much loved mascara a few years ago in the beauty world. Although it’s still around and still loved, for me I just think there are better ones out there now. I mean it’s a great affordable mascara don’t get me wrong and is great for volume. But, since I have tried other mascaras in recent times I just don’t reach for this anymore. I love it so much so a year or two ago that it made it into my Top 3 Mascaras (which actually I should probably update!) Although I enjoyed this, I just don’t reach for it anymore so I don’t think I will be going out in a hurry to repurchase this. But, if you haven’t tried this I would recommend these is a reason why this was so loved.

Estee Lauder – Take it Away Make Up Remover Lotion see here

So, this has seriously impressed me. I received this with a gift with purchase and thought I would give it a go with really no major high hopes. Wow, this stuff is good. It removed my makeup effortlessly. Seriously, it’s my favoruite thing to use to remove make up. It easily removes all my make up including eye makeup with no real effort. My skin feels amazing after use and very rarely do I second cleanse after using this product because I feel this has done the job. Halfway through using this I already went to go and buy the full size bottle of this, it is a little pricey but in my opinion well worth the investment.

Garnier – Micellar Cleansing Water see here

Do I really need to say much about this product. If you have read any of my previous blog posts then you know I absolutely LOVE this product. If I had to keep one skincare item it would be this one, no second thought. I have never had the ‘on the go’ size as they call it before but it’s so handy! I used to spend ages decanting an amount from my bigger bottle into smaller ones for travelling but have no fear Garnier have brought the travel size out. If you still haven’t tried this, then please do – well worth the couple of £’s it is.

Miss Sporty – Mascara, Just Clear see here

Ok, so it doesn’t look like a clear mascara but I promise it was once upon a time. I don’t use this for my eyelashes, I actually use this to set my brows. I don’t need no fancy brow gel. All I want is for them to stay in place and this is exactly what this baby does for me. Who needs to spend a lot of money on a setting brow gel when you can pop to Superdrug and pick one of these babies up for £2.99. I know, I’m right. It’s all I will ever use because it does the job and I have never had any issues. I know I’m a genius!

L’Oreal – Hydra Genius see here

I am actually gutted that this has run out. For mouisturiser, this has been a complete game changer and I’m just so impressed. I used this every morning and instantly I felt refreshed and my skin felt so soft and I’m then ready for the day. The difference my skin looks when I don’t apply this is crazy. I have actually done a full review on this here so go check it out if you haven’t read it already. I seriously need to repurchase this ASAP, I don’t think I can be without it for too long!

Boots – Essentials Cleansing Wipes for Normal Skin see here

If you know me, then you know I’m not the biggest fan of wipes. I’m a cleanser/micellar water girl through and through. I do always have a few packs of these lying around though and they is mainly for makeup errors or if I drop powder everywhere (which happens all the time!) I never really do go for expensive wipes because very rarely do they go on my face. I can’t say a lot about them, I mean they are ok for the price but I didn’t feel they had much moisture, they were quite dry but maybe because I don’t use them often they just dry up. Will I buy them again? Probably but only through ease when in a shop.

Soap & Glory – The ULTIMELT Hot Cloth Cleanser see here

Another cleanser, I know I have been busy getting to the end of some of them so I have new ones to try. I really enjoyed this product and I think this is my second or third one. For the price, it’s pretty impressive. From the drugstore it’s one of my favourites. Soap and Glory on the whole are really quite brill when it comes to skincare. I don’t think many people realise but over there body care and makeup I would choose these skincare range all day long. I have actually written a full review of this little baby here To be honest I really need to pop to Boots and pick this up again.

Garnier – Daily Exfoliating Scrub, Spots & Blackheads see here

Ok, so this is only my opinion but, this is the BEST face exfoliator I have ever used. I know, it’s a big statement but hands down no competition. It really works into the skin and removes all the unwanted dirt and I have noticed such a difference in my pores. This year I have had such a rough time with my skin due to being so unwell & this little baby just makes everything better. I use this around 3 times a week and for me that’s more than enough. I’m gutted I have run out of this, I seriously need to drugstore shop so I can pick this up again!

Primark – Oval Cosmetic Pads

Is it an Empties post if I don’t show you these babies. Seriously, if you haven’t tried these cotton pads then babe, you really need to. Life changing and in all honestly I refuse to use anything but these cotton pads. The rest are just such poor quality in comparison to these and blooming expensive. Why pay £4 for some cotton pads when you can pop to Primark and pick these up for 90p – yeah I know, no brainer right!?

That’s all folks, congratulations if you made it to the end! If you want to see my last Empties post then please click here

Let me know if you have used any of these products before and what your thought are on them.

Superdrug Haul

Hello my lovelies,

Yes I have a shopping addiction and I know no shame. I just can’t help it, in my defense a lot of the products in this haul are repurchases and then for good measure I brought some new bits to try out. I just get sucked in Superdrug always have offers on and I am not strong enough to say no – I’m sure I’m not the only one that gets sucked in!

Garnier Micellar Water 700ml see here

This is the ONLY micellar I will use, in my opinion it’s the best one out there. I have gone through countless bottles, more than I care to disclose. I recommend this to everyone because it does just the job. It removes make up so well and instantly refreshes my face in the morning. I could go on and on about this but I feel this would be a little much. If you haven’t try it – you need to it’s life changing stuff.

Miss Sporty – Clear Mascara see here

So you are probably thinking, babe what’s with the clear mascara. Well let me tell you, I use this to set my brows. I don’t bother with fancy eyebrow gels when this does the job. It instantly sets my brows and keeps them in place. For £3 I’m happy with it and I have repurchased this quite a few times now. It might be worth a go if your just starting out with taming your brows or after a new brow gel – you can thank me after.

Maybelline – Age Rewind Concealer in Light see here

I have wanted to buy this for the longest time and for whatever reason I never picked it up. I FINALLY picked this up as I know it is very well received in the beauty community. I wanted to pick up the brightening shade but it was all sold out so I stuck to light. I can’t wait to try this out and I’ll be sure to let you guys know what my thoughts are. My only concern is the applicator, not sure how I will get with this but we shall see!

Maybelline – Superstay Matte Ink in Visionary see here

I’m a sucker for a liquid lipstick. I hadn’t seen these before so I thought it would be rude not to pick one up and give them a go. I tried to pick a shade that is different to what I have in my collection but it’s pretty hard when you have so many. I had swatches all up my arm and I decided on this one which is a muted purple. I love a purple lip so I am hoping I will enjoy this, of course I will report back what I think.

MUA Pro Eyeshadow Palette in Fire Vixen see here

I have heard a lot about MUA and their recent launches and I haven’t brought anything from them for the longest time. I decided on this eyeshadow palette because I am still trying to come out of my comfort zone when it comes to colour. I always seem to stick to the same tones and although I never thought I would wear pink I’m hoping this will broaden my horizons and for £5 you can’t go wrong. I have owned palettes from MUA before and the quality has always been so impressive so I am hoping this won’t disappoint.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Sweetie see here

Who doesn’t love Batiste dry shampoo? Seriously in my opinion it’s the only dry shampoo worth buying. It is affordable, its a great product and I love how many different scents there are so there is something for everyone. This is such a savior product for me and always helps me out when I am having a bad hair day.

PS Primark Oval Cotton Pads

Ok so this isn’t from Superdrug but I thought I would just pop it in here. These cotton pads are the best out there in my opinion, they are 90p and they are such good quality. They never fall apart and are the perfect shape. I would never use another brand and whenever I am in Primark I make sure I always stock up on them. This is the sort of product that I panic when I am down to my last pack and then buy about 5. I’m sure I’m not the only panic buyer!

That’s all folks, I hope you enjoyed reading. Let me know if you have brought any of these products and what your thoughts are on them.

Review: Garnier – Pure Active Sensitive Anti Blemish Clarifying Tonic

Hello my lovelies,

I’m back with a new blog post – yay! I do apologise that it has been a while and I am sure I will explain in a separate blog post but today it’s all about a new review. I have had the pictures taken for such a long time and I am finally getting round to doing it. As I always say in my skincare reviews, I feel as though people forget about how important a good skincare routine is. No body wants bad skin and with packing a load of makeup on your face you need to be able to treat your skin and look after it. I’m not saying you have to spend a lot of money and invest in high end brands because for me, the drug store offer amazing products that do just as well in my opinion.

In comes this little baby, the Garnier Pure Active Sensitive Anti-Blemish Clarifying Tonic. First off, why do products have such long names!? Seriously, you are never going to remember that – but hey what do I know! For me, Garnier is a great brand. If you have read my blog for a while then you know their micellar water is a staple in my skincare. Whenever there are offers on in Boots or Superdrug I always like to try out more of their products and very rarely am I disappointed. Something I don’t use a lot of is toner. I don’t know why but it just isn’t a step in my routine I remember an awful lot. This year I am really trying to up my skincare game and this is where this little baby comes into play.

Our new tonic, with Witch Hazel extract, is formulated for sensitive skin with imperfections and spots. It combines effectiveness with a gentle, hydrating formula to tone and tighten the look of pores without drying out skin. Instantly: skin feels clean, hydrated and softer.

Doesn’t everyone want a bit of this? I mean I don’t suffer with acne but I do suffer with spots, I normally have one on my face that I’m battling and I feel that with the oily skin I have that I am more prone to spots. I do try to buy products that are formulated for oily/combination skin as well as anti-blemish properties to try and combat this. This toner just sounded right up my street! My pores are also quite big on my nose so anything that is going to decease the size of them I am all for!

As I don’t suffer with a crazy amount of blemishes at one time I don’t use this twice daily on my skin as it recommends as I worry that it may cause more damage than good. It has Witch Hazel within the product which for my skin is pretty strong so I stick to twice a week which I feel is just enough for my skin.

This is like any other toner I have tried in the sense that it’s a gel formula. I quite enjoy using gels, I’m not sure why but I think it’s mainly to do with how lovely it feels on my skin. The product smells lovely, I would say mainly cucumber based with a hint of mint. Instantly it soothes my skin and feels so hydrating. A little of this product goes a long way and I have used this so much and it still doesn’t look as though I have really used it.

What I love about this product as because it’s a gel formula it instantly sinks into the skin and doesn’t leave a residue on my face which means I don’t have to wait to do the next part of my routine. When I wake up I instantly can see a difference and I really think that this product is a massive part as to why my pores have reduced and look visibly so much better.

I’m not sure if it has done much to help with my spots but I do agree with it’s claims of hydrating my skin and the tightening of my pores. I just love how different it is to any of my other toners and has actually changed the way I perceive a toner to be. My skin feels so lovely in the morning and even if I forget to moisturise after I use this, yes I can be lazy, my skin is still really smooth.

If you haven’t tried this I would really recommend it, I am so happy that I have tried this because for me this has really made a difference. Obviously I can’t vouch for how effective it is for acne prone skin but for the average person who has oily skin and has regular blemishes this really is a life saver and is now a staple in my skincare routine.

To read more about it or pick it up for yourself see here

Let me know if you have tried this before and how you got on with it. Also any toner recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

February Favourites

Hello my lovelies,

Well hasn’t February just flown by!? In my personal life February has been an awful month I battled with pneumonia, spent weeks in bed not able to do anything for myself. Spent valentines in hospital with my boyfriend, so romantic! Luckily I am now on the mend and actually the past week or so I have trying to do as much as I can without pushing myself too much. Why is it though when you are feeling unwell that your skin decides that it’s time for your skin to have a meltdown too, seriously!

Make Up Forever – Step One Radiant Primer see here

This is one of my first ever Make Up Forever products and I am seriously impressed. It’s a cream like consistency which sinks into the skin effortlessly. Although I’m not really one for radiance as this can just make the oils in my skin worse this has actually made me look healthy. When you are unwell you do not ‘have a glow about you’ in fact it’s the complete opposite and this has helped me feel more human. Keeping my foundation on I feel as though it is pretty average as primers go but radiance glow wise, complete live saver!

Stila – Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Bronzed Ball see here

So this was mentioned in my Cult Beauty Haul earlier in the year and this was the product I was most excited for. This would of been in my January Favourites however as much as I loved it from one application I couldn’t write how much I love it, it isn’t fair. Although for the amount of pigmentation and glitter from this little baby it’s hard to find occasions to wear this however I now wear it whenever I please. I want to wear it all the time. This is the best thing I have put on my eyelids for a long time. It has changed my life. These are complete glitter goals and the shade range is so impressive. If you like glitter, go pick one of these NOW.

Zoeva – Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette see here

I know I have mentioned this in favourites posts before, I just love it so much. I love the colours in the palette, they blend beautifully and the pigmentation is pretty impressive. I have been creating a look recently which involves the shades: Substitute for Love, Freshly Toasted, Warm Notes and Pure Ganache. It creates the perfect soft cranberry smokey eye. I have had to consciously stop using this and bring out some other palettes as I am using this so much. Zoeva eyeshadow palettes are amazing, I have a couple now and I am still deciding on what one I want next, too many decisions!

Nip + Fab – Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel see here

I recently picked this up which I mentioned here and I was unsure if I was going to like this or not with it being an overnight mask and the whole sticky face vibe. I will have to eat my words a little because I am seriously impressed. I started using this when my skin started to just get worse and worse and nothing else was working. I popped this on after my skincare and yes it is fairly sticky but after around 5 minutes it goes, the product is sunk into the skin. Impressive right? I really think this has been a product that has helped my skin, my pores are reduced and my skin looks all round better! I will be doing a full review on this so keep your eyes peeled.

Estee Lauder – Pore Purifying Cleansing Jelly see here

Another skincare savior and recent purchase. I have been using this as my second cleanser and my goodness my skin loves this. It’s quite strange to apply as it’s fairly sticky for a cleanser but once you work it into the skin I have no idea what happens but my pores instantly look so much better. The amount of blackheads I find on my face has significantly reduced and all round my skin looks so much better. I definitely feel as though it’s down to this baby along with the Nip+Fab overnight ask. Very happy bunny and so pleased I picked this up.

Katy Perry – Killer Queen Perfume see here

It’s not very often I put a perfume into the mix in my favourites but here I am with quite a crazy perfume. By no means am I a Katy Perry mega fan. Years ago I was given this for a birthday/Christmas at the end of the day a scent is a scent right? I also love the bottle however it takes up a fair bit of room in my perfume collection! I started using this when I had a perfume shake up and I fell completely in love with this all over again. Although I would say it is on the sweeter side of the scale, at the same time it’s definitely an ‘adult’ scent. I don’t know if that makes sense but it’s not a silly girly scent it has some other notes to it I just can’t pick out what they are. If you ever see this in a shop, smell it weirdly it’s blooming lovely. Its the only scent I have worn this month I just am a little addicted.

That’s all folks! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them. Hope you had a lovely February.

Review: L’Oreal – Miss Baby Roll Mascara

Hello my lovelies,

For me, Mascara is quite a tricky thing to get right. People want different things from their lashes. I have average length lashes which I can’t really complain about and I am all up for extra lengthening from a mascara but for me it is all about volume. I love a slightly clumpy lash look that is big and bold. I don’t like wearing false lashes so for me a mascara has to do the job and well.

L’Oreal’s fairly recent mascara, Miss Baby Roll seemed to get a lot of bloggers and influencers talking. I have had this in my collection for a little while now and I am finally getting around to reviewing this. Just so you know I have this mascara in black, I don’t tend to go for any other colour, but the other colours available look so cool I just don’t have the confidence to wear them! So the claims on this are:

It’s time to say bye-bye to boring lashes and hello to new Miss Baby Roll Mascara, for mega volume, curl and all-day hold. Our mega curl roller brush curls lashes from the root, for an instant lash lift! The Quick Mega Volume formula volumises lashes and holds them in a curl all day

Who doesn’t want this, not just volume but MEGA volume along with an all day hold of a curl. There is nothing more annoying than curling your lashes and they look amazing for 2 hours later to find that the curl has completely dropped and the whole exercise was pointless. Anyway, before I start talking about whether I agree with these claims lets talk about the packaging. How cute!? I love the use of pastel colours and is unlike anything I have seen before when it comes to a mascara. It most definitely works for me and has a 60’s vibe to it.

Now, I will agree with the fact that my lashes are not boring when I wear this mascara. My lashes feel instantly uplifted and I feel that my eyes look wider, not crazy wide but you can definitely see a difference which I love. The volume this mascara gives is near enough perfect for me. I haven’t ever had an issues with my lashes going clumpy they just look full and obviously voluminous.

The curl I must say does hold, I mean it’s not like you have just applied a coat to your lashes but it is an improvement on if you didn’t have any mascara on. The applicator of this mascara, is quite interesting. They are short, sturdy plastic bristles which allow for all your lashes to be coated in a roll motion. It’s pretty clever to be honest and I think it is really nice for application.

What I love most about this mascara is that it doesn’t give me panda eyes. I know this sounds silly but I hate buying waterproof versions of mascara just to stop this because it’s a complete bugger to get off. It works amazingly for my bottom lashes and I never have any blackness underneath or above my eye which is a massive winner for me.

A slight niggle I have is that with some of my cleansers (which let me add are pretty good) struggle to remove this mascara causing my eyes to go all red. I do have to bear this in mind especially when I go crazy on my mascara it’s instant regret as soon as I want to remove it. I guess it’s something to bear in mind if you struggle with mascaras in general and have a sensitive eye are.

Overall, I really love this mascara. It’s a great drugstore find and I think L’Oreal in my opinion are the best for drugstore mascaras. There is just something about them, they really understand what people want from their lashes and this one is no exception apart from it being a little tricky to remove I can’t really fault it. I love wearing this and to be honest it just looks pretty in my collection.

If you want more information or want to pick it up yourself see here

Let me know if you have tried this mascara before and what your thoughts are, I’d love to know!

Empties #13

Hello my lovelies,

Another empties post, I find these my most favourite posts to write and actually they are my favoruite blog posts to read. One because I’m really nosy and two I feel that you get a greater understanding of how the products performed and whether a person would buy it again. I need to keep on top of these as I don’t know if 10 products per post is a little much because I do go on a little. If you want to read my previous empties post see here

Herbal Essences – Hello Hydration Shampoo see here

Yes I know I haven’t finished the conditioner but there is still a lot left I thought well lets just get it over an done with. I really enjoy Herbal Essences as a brand their hair care is probably one of my favourites because it’s affordable and they do a good job of cleaning my hair. With the winter months I chose this one as I thought I needed to give my hair some TLC and it did just the trick. The products definitely work better as a pair, I mean they work well individually just not as well. I would definitely repurchase this again especially with the scents of all their ranges. However, currently I am trying to inject some volume into my hair through my shampoo but I’m sure I will pick this up again soon.

Lush – Snow Fairy Shower Gel

Now I’m sorry because I can’t link this because it is seasonal for Christmas.. but I have so many bottles of this stuff to use over the course of the year and this was one of them. This is my all time favourite shower gel I have ever used. The smell is incredible, extremely sweet so it does depend on your tastes but I love it. The smell actually lingers on your body for hours too which I love. Who doesn’t want to smell of candy cane!? It’s also pink and has glitter in it – what more could you ask for. Every year I make sure I pick up multiple bottles, if you haven’t smelt this make a mental note to pop into a Lush store around Christmas time to smell this. I promise you, you won’t regret it.

Rimmel – Fix & Protect Make Up Primer see here

I have made it my mission recently to start using up primers, I have so many and this one I have just used to finally get rid of it as it’s been in my collection for quite some time. I don’t believe this is the first bottle of this I would say second. I used to really love this but I think as I have delved into the primer world more and more there are better quality products on the market now.

I mean for a drugstore primer it’s OK and I mainly use this as my SPF as not all my foundations contain SPF so this is a little savior. Do I think this keeps my make up on for longer or improves the look of my skin, not really. Although I have loved this, I think I have grown out of it so I don’t think I will be repurchasing this again, you have been good to me Fix & Protect now it’s time to move on.

Benefit – Precisely my Brow Pencil in Shade 4 see here

For me this is a holy grail eyebrow product. I absolutely adore it and I panic every time this is running low and I have to go and buy another. I have been through quite a few of these babies in recent years, it’s just perfect. I don’t do my whole brow with it, mainly to define and add a little more colour and shape to the sparse areas of my brows. I just can’t live without it, I have tried and failed.

I have been running low of this for a little while and every website I went on was sold out of this in my shade, I had no idea how popular it was but I completely know why. In my eyes Benefit really shine when it comes to brow products, I have never been disappointed. I love this so much it made it to my Top 3| Eyebrow Products Seriously if you haven’t tried this brow range, it’s a must!

Garnier – Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water see here

Another holy grail product. I don’t actually think I could live my life without this product. It is the only micellar water I will ever use, I have been through countless bottles of this stuff and I know I will buy it until the end of time. My skin loves it and it works so well, I use it morning and night without fail. There is so much for this love in the beauty world and there is a damn good reason why, because its AMAZING. I’m sure I could write an essay about this but I won’t because it would bore everyone to tears. Honestly if you haven’t tried this before, please go down to your nearest store and pick it up!

Benefit – Porefessional see here

Another primer, I told you I was trying to use some of mine up. This is a difficult one for me, this was one of the first ever primers I used and I love it. It reduces the look of pores and creates a soft even base to apply the rest of your make up but I have found a lot better alternatives at a fraction of the price. Seriously, in my opinion it isn’t worth the money.

I’m not saying its a bad product but I would save your pennies. This used to be such a popular product in the beauty world because primers were not so available from other brands but now they are, it’s just not very competitive now there is no wow factor. I mean if someone brought this for me I wouldn’t be disappointed I just personally wouldn’t spend my money on it.

L’Oreal – Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation see here

This is one of my favourite foundations ever, it’s definitely my favourite from the drugstore. It’s a matte foundation which is a winner when it comes to my oily skin and just blends wonderfully. It’s such a buildable foundation and it’s so easy to apply. If I am ever unsure on what to apply I usually go for this one. It’s such a great all rounder. I actually like that it is in a squeezy tube because you can actually use all the product up. I have mentioned this in my Top 3: Drugstore Foundations which goes into further detail about this product. I have already repurchased this and using it near enough daily.

Sephora – Green Tea Face Mask see here

I have been really bad recently at not using face masks I just always forget, but I remembered I had this in my collection and I was having a bad time with my skin and I knew this would make it a lot better. This has to be my favourite sheet mask as I actually notice a difference when using this and it really helps my skin out. It aims to mattify and combat blemishes which I would totally agree with. It’s so annoying because I can’t get hold of this in the UK, it’s definitely on my list to buy a fair few of these when I go to New York later on in the year!

Primark – Oval Cosmetic Pads

Do I even need to explain any more how much I love these!? They are in near enough every single Empties post I write. They are the only cotton pads I will use and I will continue to use until they stop producing them. For 90p they are amazing and the best quality cotton pads I have used. Go to Primark and get yourself a pack, try them out and try and come back to tell me that they are rubbish because I know you won’t you’ll fall in love just like I have.

Kiehl’s – Ultra Facial Cream (Sample) see here

I have had this sample for quite some time and I have always wanted to try this because so many people love this product. I thought I was going to fall in love, but I just thought it was actually quite standard. For me there is nothing to write home about, its a moisturiser it’s nice but I have better ones in my collection that I enjoy a whole lot more. This is what I love about samples because you can try them out before you invest money especially when skincare is not cheap. I don’t think I will be buying this myself anytime soon.. I’m sorry Kiehl’s I really wanted to fall in love but I didn’t.

We have made it to the end, gold star to you if you managed to get to the end it’s a fairly lengthy read! Let me know if you have used any of these products before and what your thoughts are.

Review: Natural World Chia Seed Oil Hair Collection

Hello my lovelies,

Another hair post, I know I’m as shocked as everyone. I am determined to mix it up a little in 2018 which means a few more different beauty posts than I have done before which includes hair care. My last hair related post went down really well see here. I am trying to make more an effort with my hair, I’m just so blooming lazy because I don’t really know what to do with it. To give you an insight to my hair it is fine, good condition-ish however it’s quite weak because I have a trail of hair where ever I go! I’m all for giving my hair some volume as it’s so flat as well as shine just to make it more healthy looking. In come this range which claim to do these things to my hair!

I’m a pretty simple girl when it comes to washing my hair, finding really whatever is on offer in Boots which has something relating to moisture or volume. This brand Natural World which until I saw this trio of products I’d never heard of before promotes using natural products from around the world, hence the name. All their products are paraben, phosphate, dyes and gluten free which is pretty amazing. There are not many hair care products on the market that are able to say this. What I love the most is that the products have been created in Soho, London. There is something about products that are created in your own country which makes the brand that little bit better!

Anyway, onto the products themselves the range I have from Natural World is the Chia Seed Oil Range which claims ‘to remove dirt and impurities that weigh the hair down, while helping strengthen for beautifully bouncy, fuller hair. Volume & silky shine for fine hair‘ this is literally everything I want in my hair. The bottle couldn’t of said it better! I was so excited to try these because who doesn’t want their hair looking bouncy AND shiny!? Just so you know I have used these products around 8 times to give as best review as I can!

Obviously we will start with the shampoo, for me shampoo’s are pretty standard products they are these to clean and restore your hair as well as your scalp. This shampoo is anything like I had tried before in the sense that it came out of the bottle like snot, I’m sorry it’s the only thing I can of it relating to. It just felt strange, when I applied it onto my hair it took a while to become all foamy which I don’t know is a good or bad thing. What I noticed is how light the product felt on my head and it washed out so well.

Now the conditioner, pretty standard looking when it came out of the bottle. The thing I noticed that seemed different to my regular conditioners is that it’s pretty thick. You really have to give it some elbow squeezing this out of the bottle, so if your weak like me – you have been warned! It applies really nicely onto my hair and with all conditioners I leave it to soak into my hair for around 3-5 minutes. Again when it come to washing it off it was so quick, normally with conditioner I’m there for a long time washing it out but not with this baby!

Oil’s for me are not something I dabble with all that often because I don’t do much with my hair apart from wash and detangle. As you know, I’m quite open to try things so I thought lets try this. I think I was hoping that this would help to detangle my hair or at least soften, but it didn’t. What I ended up doing was detangling and brushing my hair and then applying this oil, which seemed to work a lot better. On the ‘how to use’ on the back of the bottle it does indicate that you should blow dry your hair, but I don’t do this I’m a towel dry sort of gal and I think this is where I failed when it came to this product.

I just thought an oil would make my hair look amazing, but it didn’t. In fact I didn’t notice any difference. I definitely need to try this when I have a little more time on my hands to blow dry my hair to see if this makes much of a difference. I just like to be a rebel but on this occasion I think I have failed.

Now, all three products together.. I like. But I’m not completely in love, I mean I noticed subtle differences in my hair the fact that it did make my hair feel a lot cleaner. However, I did develop dandruff when I first started using this I don’t know whether this is a coincidence or whether this was caused by these products, who knows! On the volume front, I don’t think it did anything special but I am yet to find a shampoo and conditioner to give me the volume effects that I am after. Although it’s not completely flat it’s nothing to write home about.

What I did notice was that my hair has much more of a shine to it. Visually it looks like my hair is in better condition, I have even had comments from people asking if I had been to the hairdressers recently because it’s in good condition. I have never really made much attention to shine in products but I think I need to start taking note because this little trio has made quite the difference.

I don’t feel as though this strengthened my hair, I mean don’t get my wrong I didn’t get more fall out than usual but it didn’t get any better. As I mentioned with volume, I’m still yet to find a hair care range that can combat this so I’m not particularly disappointed by this but I thought it was worth noting especially when this is one of the claims from the products.

Overall, I like them. I think I would repurchase these, maybe not the oil as I think me and this product still have some testing to go through but definitely the shampoo and conditioner.  Now the main reason for this is because of the price, it retails for £6 for a litre which is amazing value! Especially for a natural shampoo/conditioner which are normally pretty blooming expensive I would go and buy them. By no means are they miracle products in my eyes but I do enjoy using them and if I saw them I would pick them up again.

If you would like to know more information about this or want to try them out for yourselves see here

If you have any hair care saviors that will help combat my fine, flat hair then send your recommendations my way!

Collective Beauty Haul

Hello lovelies,

I love shopping. I am sucked in by deals and freebies. I only actually needed one of these items and look what I ended up buying from multiple places! Hey ho, I mean who is judging? My problem is that I lust on websites and before I know it I have paid and it’s already on it’s way to me before I even realise what I have done. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has this issue!?

House of Fraser

So the reason why I went spending at House of Fraser is that I had a gift voucher from Christmas and I really wanted to repurchase my Benefit Brow Pencil. Little did I know that this brow pencil is so damn popular! It’s constantly out of stock and I was waiting ages for it to come back into stock & I gave up. I decided to take advantage of the Estee Lauder gift with purchase because why the hell not!

Estee Lauder – Take it Away Total Makeup Remover see here

I had a little mini of this and I fell in love. It’s flipping brilliant and the perfect make up remover for me. Its light and takes my make up off with ease so I thought do you know I am going to buy the full size. I haven’t heard of this at all in the beauty world but I have no idea why because it’s a flipping great product. It’s not a hot cloth cleanser but I use it in the same way and it works wonders!

Estee Lauder – Nutritious Micro-Algae Pore Cleansing Jelly see here

So this product was calling my name because my pores are awful at the moment. They are so clogged up and nothing I seem to try helps. So I saw this was specifically for pore cleansing and I just knew I needed to try it out. I really hope that this helps me out because I feel like currently I am up against a loosing battle. Essentially it is another cleanser BUT this will be a second cleanser for me to ensure it’s just the pores I’m targeting. Lets hope it helps. Side note if you have any savior products for pores please let me know!

So because I brought two products from Estee Lauder I received a goodie bag which included:

Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

Advanced Night Repair

Eyeshadow Palette

Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream

Day Wear Cream

Sumptuous Extreme Mascara

The Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer

Stila – Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Wanderlust see here

Annoyingly, House of Fraser don’t currently stock this shade but I promise I did buy it from here. I already own one of these liquid eye shadows and I have fallen in love. They are absolutely beautiful and has completely changed my eyeshadow game. I thought why the hell not buy another one. This shade is completely out of my comfort zone but I think sometimes you have to shake it up and try new things, lets hope it works well!

Cult Beauty

This is where I found my little eyebrow pencil in stock. I could of just brought this BUT that’s not me so I added a few things just to make it worth while and again I just got sucked in to the beautiful world of Cult Beauty. If you haven’t ever shopped on Cult Beauty then you really need to, they have amazing brands and the website is just dreamy!

Benefit – Precisely, My Brow Pencil in Shade 4 see here

I finally have what I was looking for, seriously this massive haul is for this one product. Crazy! I had no idea how popular this product was until I was quickly running out of my current one and I was panicking that I would run out. Cult Beauty saved the day! This is my brow pencil of choice and I adore it. It’s perfect, Benefit really are the winners for me when it comes to brow products. Seriously if you haven’t tried their brow products before head over to your local counter and they will be able to point you in the right direction of what product will suit you best as well as shades.

NYX – Concealer Wand in Light see here

I was on the search for a new concealer. I have been stuck in a rut with using the wonderful Collection Lasting Perfecting Concealer which is AMAZING but I was getting a little bored. I saw NYX was on Cult Beauty and thought do you know what it’s time for a change. I very rarely buy new concealers because I love the ones I have but I’m all up for a mix up and it’s so damn affordable!

Stila – Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Rose Gold Retro see here

Yes I know, another one! I just can’t help myself the colours are just so damn pretty. I am really getting into experimenting with different eyeshadow colours and who doesn’t want rose gold on their lids!? I cannot wait for occasions to wear this because the colour looks absolutely beautiful. I feel as though this is going to become an addiction because their colours are just too much, seriously tell me that they aren’t pretty.

A trusty winner when it comes to buying beauty products. I would say go when it’s quiet because otherwise it ends up like a jumble sale and seriously it’s not worth it. I always go late at night and near enough have the whole section to myself and I can really find some amazing goodies. I can’t link them to their website because it’s not how they work but if you haven’t been to TK MAXX for beauty products then it’s a must who doesn’t love a bargain!

Nip + Fab – Glycolic Overnight Purifying Gel

So I pick up all my Nip + Fab products up from TK MAXX because you can pick them up for a fraction of the price. I find the brand a little pricey so when you can pick this product for £6 instead of £15, to me it’s a no brainer. These whole overnight products interest me and I want to know what they exactly do. I’m not a massive fan of the whole sticky pillow face vibe but I’m willing to try. I will be doing a review on this product so keep your eyes peeled!

Eylure – Fleur de Force Brow Palette

I have heard an awful lot of things about Fleur’s eyebrow range and for whatever reason I haven’t got round to picking anything up. I saw this for £2 and I thought well it’s silly not to try it out. I’m not the biggest fan of brow powder but I’m open to try new products and with so many people enjoying this product I thought come on girl change it up a bit. I like that their is two different colours so I report back and I’ll let you know how I get on.

That’s all folks! I have been on a spending ban for a couple of weeks so I don’t think their will be another haul anytime soon. I have so many new products to try out now and I cannot wait! Please let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them.

Review: Makeup Obsession Highlighters

Hello my lovelies,

I literally have the longest list of products to review and I am slowly getting through them so you will have to bare with me! So today’s post is with regards to a brand called Makeup Obsession. Now, I have heard of this brand for around 18 months when they were being launched in Boots. To date I have only seen them in one Boots store and that was Brighton. My local Boots stores that are reasonably sized don’t stock them. The way I got my hands on their products was through Tam Beauty which are the creators of Make Up Revolution and MUA. Very good website for affordable make up and they always have sales on!

The beauty of Make Up Obsession products is that it is based on the idea of customization palettes. So, you buy for example a blank palette and then buy pans of bronzer, eyeshadow and on this occasion I brought highlighters. I think it’s a great idea because you could make your own face palette or put some eye shadows in there – the choice really is yours. I suppose like the basis on MAC but for me a lot easier to get the pans in & out and they are all the same size!

I actually brought this in their sale around 6 months ago which was an already made palette. I didn’t know where to start on choosing so I chose the easy way out and brought one someone else had kindly put together, I know lazy! I think I paid around £8 for the whole palette but I believe the prices are the following: for a blank palette between £4-£8 depending on the size and £2/£3 for each pan. For me I think this is good value for money to get the exact colours you want.

The highlighters I have for reference are: Gold, Bronze, Mars, Ice, Pop and Pearl. The picture below is unedited and gold is the furthest one away. Do excuse the bruises/cuts I have a puppy and the teething is crazy!

They are all beautiful colours in their own right, they may look similar as really a photo never does highlight it’s true justice. I absolutely love the tones depending on the look I’m going for and my general mood of how much highlighter I want on my face. The formulation of all of these are AMAZING. For £2 each I’m seriously impressed, they aren’t the most pigmented but actually I like building highlighter up and these is nothing worse than too much highlight and just looking like a ball of glitter!

All the colours are so creamy and blend well onto the skin. I haven’t had an issue with any of these products and my foundations and I have really given these a good test. My favourite shades from this palette is Bronze & Pop. Two completely different colours but my oh my they really work well for my skin tone. I just love a good highlight and this palette is perfect for experimenting with.

Overall, I am really happy with this palette. It’s a shame this brand is not spoken about more because their products really are amazing and especially for the price point. I believe this is stocked on and TAM beauty so if you are on there browsing I would highly recommend having a little look to see if anything takes your fancy and I’m sure it will!

Let me know if you have tried any of Make Up Obsessions highlighters before and what your thoughts are. Also, any recommendations of what products to try next would be really helpful!
