Hello my lovelies,
I’m back with another review. I am a sucker for new lip products. A look for me never feels complete without a product on my lip. Usually I go for liquid lipsticks, I find them easiest to apply, matte and long lasting which is exactly what I look for. I do delve into other products but I do usually stay away from gloss products. I just can’t seem to get them to work for me the formulas that I pick up are too sticky and don’t feel comfortable on the lips. I still do try them on the odd occasion though just to see if I can find something that works for me.
I am reviewing two products from a brand called Code Beautiful. Until I spoke to the brand I hadn’t heard of them but there are still so many brands out there that I haven’t heard of and I am sure offer amazing products. I’m a big supporter of giving brands a chance and it’s the products that really matter not the brand itself. What I love about the brand is that all of their products are cruelty free and vegan!
I wanted to start with the product I wasn’t the most comfortable with – getting out of my comfort zone and all that! So, the lip intense plumper. Usually, these are the type of products I stay away from. I mean I’m all up for having more plumper lips but the whole tingling sensation isn’t for me. When Soap and Glory brought out their Sexy Mother Puckers I of course tried them but it wasn’t for me and I couldn’t last 30 minutes with the product on it was just so uncomfortable. To be honest since this disaster I haven’t tried a lip plumping product since.
The branding and packaging of this product is lovely. I really like black, matte packaging. It just feels sleek and with the neon logo it really does stand out in my collection. The feel of this is lovely, you can tell that the brand has really thought about the material and imaging of the product and it really shows. As with most lip products, this has a doe foot applicator which although is samey it’s the best was to apply lip products in my opinion.
When you pull the applicator out, you can see that the product is pink which surprised me as normally with lip plumping products they are clear. I do like the fact that if you wanted to wear this on your own then you could. My other first thought is that the consistency is fairly thin and looks extremely sticky – not great.
Below, is a picture of my lips with no product on them – I mean I don’t have the smallest lips in the world but there is always room for improvement.
Application is extremely easy, the product easily glides onto the lips and as the product is fairly thin it spreads evenly which I was pleasantly surprised about. Normally with gloss products I find them thick and gloopy but this was the complete opposite. The product smells of peppermint which I really love – it’s such a refreshing scent and not as harsh as a typical mint smell. On the lips the tingling happens almost immediately but it was completely bearable and nothing crazy like the Soap and Glory version. The tingling goes on for around 15 minutes which is more than acceptable in my opinion.
The formula is not sticky at all and I love the finish of the gloss itself, over other products this would really work well as well as on it’s own. However, this didn’t plump my lips. Once applied I was really expecting good things but from the picture below you can see that there is no visible difference which was disappointing as this is marketed as a lip plumping product. Despite this, I love this as a clear gloss it’s the best formula I have ever tried and has really changed my opinion when it comes to glosses!
So, onto the next product. The one that was I was most excited to try. It’s a soft smooth lip liner – which sounds pretty average BUT it’s self sharpening (more about this in a little while) a product with a USP always raises eyebrows and this certainly did for me. Again the packaging is sleek like the lip plumper but instead of matte black packaging it’s more of a typical black plastic which doesn’t have the same feel to it. I don’t know whether this was a conscious choice but it’s a little disappointing and much prefer the finish of the lip plumper.
The colour of this is a beautiful pink nude which goes with so many of my lip products that I own. I must say it’s very 90’s and would go perfectly with MAC’s iconic Velvet Teddy which is always a winner in my book. The liner is more of a crayon as opposed to a pencil which I much prefer and the application is 100x better. It glides easily onto the lips and is perfectly matte. What more could you want!?
Well I will tell you. What’s more annoying than opening a lip liner – it’s blunt and you can’t find a sharpener. Nothing. The amount of times this has happened to me is more time that I care to think about. What about if you had a lip liner that is always sharp whenever you need it without having to do anything. Yep – here it is a self sharpening lip liner. It’s blooming life changing and my god I am obsessed. It’s the most perfect product and I cannot get enough. I’m telling every person that will listen to me about how ground breaking this is. I have never had a product that has done this before and let me tell you it’s a game changer. This has quickly become one of my favourite lip liners!
So overall, I am really impressed with these two products and the brand. Although the lip plumper didn’t plump my lips I have finally found a gloss that seems to tick all my boxes. When it comes to the lip liner I am just obsessed and I am so happy that this has come into my life. I would highly recommend trying both of these products out.
