Hello my lovelies,
Another liquid lipstick review, I feel as though this year has been the year of trying new lipsticks – even though my collection already unhealthy and I certainly don’t need anymore. The reason why I picked this up was due to finding it in TK MAXX – hidden gems. I saw their liquid lipsticks and just knew I had to pick it up – I mean who wouldn’t when they are half the price of other retailers! If I’m honest I hadn’t heard much on their liquid lipsticks so I took it upon my self for the love of my readers to let you know my opinions.
Let’s start with the packaging. I like it. For me, I was a little surprised with the silver top as within their branding it’s not really part of their colour scheme.. for me though the silver then clashes with the rose gold trim on the tube itself. It just doesn’t really work. However, I’m a lover for see through packaging being able to see the colour makes such a massive difference to me – so overall definitely not offensive and it will sit nicely in my collection.
The applicator like most liquid lipsticks is a standard doe foot. The applicator itself is flat, which actually makes it a little difficult because there is no real point to be able to line the lip so I usually wear a lip liner underneath this to ensure precision. Nothing worse in my book than the edges of the lipstick to be all over the place – crisp & clean is my motto! For reference the colour I have in this range is Trouble which I would describe as a Mauve Nude. The picture below shows it as a more brown but I promise there is an undertone of mauve in there – blame the lighting!
The application of this lipstick despite the slightly awkward applicator is fairly easy and I never seem to have any issues apart from lining of the lips. The formulation of this lipstick is fairly thin but very pigmented which means a little of this goes a long way. What I also love about this product is that although it dries matte quickly it gives you enough time to be able to complete the application of your whole lips so you don’t have any streaks or odd looking lips whilst the whole lip is drying.
The longevity of this lipstick is actually pretty impressive. I have eaten, drunk and wore this for over 10 hours and it still looks acceptable to me. I mean, it could probably do with topping up but it never gives you those awful lines around your lips where the lipstick seems to flea to. It just gently wears off and to be honest it’s just the pigmentation of the lipstick that seems to go slightly which I can handle. I would say with this staying power, you do need to make sure you have a darn good make up remover because I will warn you – a little bit of scrubbing is required.
A drawback to this lipstick is the feeling of this when it’s dried and set onto the lips. It dries matte which is great but the presence on my lips is pretty prominent for a thin layer of lipstick. When I move my lips I can feel it, it just feels very rigid. I wouldn’t go as far as uncomfortable but noticeable. It does also have a very powdered feel to my lips which personally is not for me – I don’t like the feels and I just don’t feel comfortable after hours on end wearing this.
Overall, its a pretty good lipstick. The longevity, the colour, the fairly easy application onto the lips. My only annoyance which is a big thing when it comes to liquid lipsticks is the finish and the powdered feeling – it’s just something I can’t seem to shake off. Would I buy another – yes. BUT only paying £9.99 I personally wouldn’t pay the price of £20.. in my eyes they aren’t worth it. It’s not ground breaking and it doesn’t compete with some firm favourites in my collection.
I do love this colour and will continue to use it, and if anyone wanted to gift me one then I would be more than happy to accept just not a £20 liquid lipstick in my eyes. If you would like to try it out yourself or another colour in their extensive shade range see here
Let me know if you have tried one of these lipsticks before and what your opinion is on them.
