Review – Botanics Softening Cleanser

Hello my lovelies,

Review time! I love my make up but I do also love to focus of skincare as I think a lot of people forget how important it really is. I feel as though sometimes it is portrayed in the beauty world that you have to spend a lot of money to have good skincare products. Recently I have been hunting the drugstore for affordable skincare products to see what is on offer who don’t have an endless supply of money.

Botanics is a brand I haven’t used until this year and funnily enough the product I originally chose from them was a cleanser. As I enjoyed it I wanted to try more things from them, yes I brought another cleanser but they are different I promise you. Botanics if you haven’t heard from them are available in Boots and focus their brand on being nature inspired and trying to be organic as possible.

This range is for all skin types and is in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens in London which again really appeals to me. I’m all for trying more natural and organic products because especially for the skin you don’t want products to be full of chemicals you want it to be as natural as possible to soothe  and aid the skin.

The packaging is pretty standard, but I just love the simplicity of this. It’s a squeezy bottle so as opposed to pump based bottles I know I can get every last drop out of this which is a massive plus for me. I hate it when you have a product with a pump and you have to give up using it because you can’t seem to get the last drop out of it. Any tips for this would be greatly appreciated!

I use this like a hot cloth cleanser so I squeeze a little onto my hand, rub it into my face and then remove with a warm wet cloth/flannel. It does say remove with tissues but I stick to what I know! It feels so lovely massaging onto the skin and doesn’t irritate my eyes at all. It does a pretty good job of removing most of the mascaras I own, the only one it struggles with is L’Oreal mascaras but I seem to have this issues with all my cleansers they are just a bugger to remove!

The smell of this is really lovely, I’m sat here smelling it and although I can’t put my finger on what it smells like it’s not overpowering just very fresh, like you are walking through pretty gardens on a summers day. I have probably described that badly but I promise it’s a really lovely scent. When I remove this from my face my skin always feels amazing and so soft. It sinks into the skin and just leaves this lovely suppleness and freshness to your skin. I think this is mainly down to the rosehip extract which is rich in omegas and essential fatty acids. It does wonders and my skin always looks great after.

For a cleanser that costs £7.99 I don’t think you can really go wrong and has made such a good impression with me. I don’t think I can find fault with it and the picky person I am that’s pretty impressive. It just shows that actually you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg on skincare to see good results. I can’t stop using this and it’s all I have been reaching for recently.

I do need to try more from Botanics, so if any of you have any recommendations please send them my way it will be greatly appreciated!

  2. I’ve not tried this brand before, but I’ve seen their products all over Instagram. From this I may have to pick it up, as it sounds like a great cleanser. I think you described the scent well, as they’re a pain to try and explain haha!xx

  3. I loved this post! I’ve recently bought a few products from this brand too and I’m in the process of trialing them. I didn’t by the softening cleanser though. I’m using the hot cloth cleansing balm which is really nice – the main ingredient is olive oil and you can really smell it but if you don’t mind the scent it is a really nice product!
