Review: Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette

Hello my lovelies,

I feel like I haven’t written a review in the longest time, so I thought why not review a beautiful looking eyeshadow palette. My problem in the past year is that I have been obsessed with the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette that nothing has really come close. I even stopped buying eyeshadow palettes for a while, I know shock horror! I picked up this little beauty when I was in Berlin in November and for whatever reason only really started using it recently so I thought it was about time I reviewed it.

This has been a very hyped up product in the beauty world, I instantly fell in love with the colours and to be honest with seeing it all over social media I got sucked in and decided to buy it. I love Huda Beauty’s liquid lipsticks, they are sensational so I thought their eye shadows should be pretty amazing. You get 18 shades in this palette which actually is pretty good, a lot of high end palettes don’t provide this amount. The main tones in this palette are orange/red tones with some beautiful glitter shades and the odd crazy colour like the purple.

For whatever reason although it looks beautiful, I never reached for it when I first brought it. Even though I was wearing these sorts of shades I just never picked it up. I then had a massive clear out a couple of months ago and actually I debated just selling this because something so beautiful shouldn’t just be collecting dust. However, I thought I need to give this a proper go – it’s Huda Beauty. So I decided to start using it and creating looks and I have been really impressed. The shades are really pigmented, not in your face pigmented but it doesn’t take 10 minutes to apply one colour to your lids.

I have been loving the orange tones now for some while and these are just beautiful and actually nothing like I have in my collection. I have even gone all out and tried out the pink glitter in here when is called Angelic. Ok I admit it’s pink with a lot of gold in it, but it’s a start right!? I am absolutely obsessed. All the colours are really easy to work with and blend so lovely together.

My favourite shades in the palette from Left to Right of the above picture: Musk, Amber, Blazing, Angelic, Blood Moon & Retrograde.

I have been creating a look with these shades which I am absolutely in love with. Day or night I rock it, seriously I’m just an eyeshadow lover. What I also love about these is there there are no fall out even with glitter shadows which I think is very rare to find. Huda Beauty have done incredibly well to find this amazing formula and for it to work with the different finishes are really impressive.

I absolutely adore this palette and I am shocked and disappointed in myself that I nearly let this little baby go away. Nothing this pretty should ever be sat in a collection collecting dust especially when the shades inside are blooming amazing. I mean there are probably two shades in this palette that I wouldn’t use, well not at the moment any way. These are the purple shades, but this is going waaay out of my comfort zone. 18 months ago I was a complete nude eye shadow girl and was all about the golden look. To go to orange/red tones and to add other colours like pink is a big step for me.

I’m hoping one day I’ll find the courage to rock the purple shades though. I just know I am going to get so much use out of the palette now and to be honest for the past month or so it’s the only palette I have been using because I am so obsessed with the looks I’m creating with it. I’m no eye shadow artist but slowly I’m creating looks that I love and that’s all that matters right?

I can’t tell you how happy I am to have this in my collection and I am in awe of Huda Beauty for creating this beautiful palette. I now have my eyes on their other palettes and I’m sure it won’t take me long to make a cheeky purchase on Cult Beauty. This is seriously a brand that rivals the likes of ABH. If you have never tried anything from Huda Beauty as a whole then I strongly recommend eye shadows and liquid lipsticks.

If you want to pick this up yourself see here – it is the most expensive eye shadow I have ever brought but it does work out to around £3.11 per colour which actually is pretty impressive when you think about it.

Let me know your thoughts on whether you have tried this palette before and also recommendations of what one I should try out next.

  1. I have this palette and feel the same way! I never reach for it, but when I do I am always happy with the result. How is the shade Amethyst on your palette? I know you said you won’t use the purples, but in my palette this shade has so little colour payoff! No matter how hard I try I can’t build it up to be truly purple like it is in the pan, it just looks like a sheer lavender. Not sure if I got a bad pressing or if this shade just isn’t as good as the others!

    1. I will have a look when I go home, to be honest as it’s to bright I haven’t touched it but that is very disappointing if that is the case. I haven’t found that with any of the shades that’s I use regularly. I definitely go through phases using this palette. Thank you for reading!✨
