Review: Natural World Chia Seed Oil Hair Collection

Hello my lovelies,

Another hair post, I know I’m as shocked as everyone. I am determined to mix it up a little in 2018 which means a few more different beauty posts than I have done before which includes hair care. My last hair related post went down really well see here. I am trying to make more an effort with my hair, I’m just so blooming lazy because I don’t really know what to do with it. To give you an insight to my hair it is fine, good condition-ish however it’s quite weak because I have a trail of hair where ever I go! I’m all for giving my hair some volume as it’s so flat as well as shine just to make it more healthy looking. In come this range which claim to do these things to my hair!

I’m a pretty simple girl when it comes to washing my hair, finding really whatever is on offer in Boots which has something relating to moisture or volume. This brand Natural World which until I saw this trio of products I’d never heard of before promotes using natural products from around the world, hence the name. All their products are paraben, phosphate, dyes and gluten free which is pretty amazing. There are not many hair care products on the market that are able to say this. What I love the most is that the products have been created in Soho, London. There is something about products that are created in your own country which makes the brand that little bit better!

Anyway, onto the products themselves the range I have from Natural World is the Chia Seed Oil Range which claims ‘to remove dirt and impurities that weigh the hair down, while helping strengthen for beautifully bouncy, fuller hair. Volume & silky shine for fine hair‘ this is literally everything I want in my hair. The bottle couldn’t of said it better! I was so excited to try these because who doesn’t want their hair looking bouncy AND shiny!? Just so you know I have used these products around 8 times to give as best review as I can!

Obviously we will start with the shampoo, for me shampoo’s are pretty standard products they are these to clean and restore your hair as well as your scalp. This shampoo is anything like I had tried before in the sense that it came out of the bottle like snot, I’m sorry it’s the only thing I can of it relating to. It just felt strange, when I applied it onto my hair it took a while to become all foamy which I don’t know is a good or bad thing. What I noticed is how light the product felt on my head and it washed out so well.

Now the conditioner, pretty standard looking when it came out of the bottle. The thing I noticed that seemed different to my regular conditioners is that it’s pretty thick. You really have to give it some elbow squeezing this out of the bottle, so if your weak like me – you have been warned! It applies really nicely onto my hair and with all conditioners I leave it to soak into my hair for around 3-5 minutes. Again when it come to washing it off it was so quick, normally with conditioner I’m there for a long time washing it out but not with this baby!

Oil’s for me are not something I dabble with all that often because I don’t do much with my hair apart from wash and detangle. As you know, I’m quite open to try things so I thought lets try this. I think I was hoping that this would help to detangle my hair or at least soften, but it didn’t. What I ended up doing was detangling and brushing my hair and then applying this oil, which seemed to work a lot better. On the ‘how to use’ on the back of the bottle it does indicate that you should blow dry your hair, but I don’t do this I’m a towel dry sort of gal and I think this is where I failed when it came to this product.

I just thought an oil would make my hair look amazing, but it didn’t. In fact I didn’t notice any difference. I definitely need to try this when I have a little more time on my hands to blow dry my hair to see if this makes much of a difference. I just like to be a rebel but on this occasion I think I have failed.

Now, all three products together.. I like. But I’m not completely in love, I mean I noticed subtle differences in my hair the fact that it did make my hair feel a lot cleaner. However, I did develop dandruff when I first started using this I don’t know whether this is a coincidence or whether this was caused by these products, who knows! On the volume front, I don’t think it did anything special but I am yet to find a shampoo and conditioner to give me the volume effects that I am after. Although it’s not completely flat it’s nothing to write home about.

What I did notice was that my hair has much more of a shine to it. Visually it looks like my hair is in better condition, I have even had comments from people asking if I had been to the hairdressers recently because it’s in good condition. I have never really made much attention to shine in products but I think I need to start taking note because this little trio has made quite the difference.

I don’t feel as though this strengthened my hair, I mean don’t get my wrong I didn’t get more fall out than usual but it didn’t get any better. As I mentioned with volume, I’m still yet to find a hair care range that can combat this so I’m not particularly disappointed by this but I thought it was worth noting especially when this is one of the claims from the products.

Overall, I like them. I think I would repurchase these, maybe not the oil as I think me and this product still have some testing to go through but definitely the shampoo and conditioner.  Now the main reason for this is because of the price, it retails for £6 for a litre which is amazing value! Especially for a natural shampoo/conditioner which are normally pretty blooming expensive I would go and buy them. By no means are they miracle products in my eyes but I do enjoy using them and if I saw them I would pick them up again.

If you would like to know more information about this or want to try them out for yourselves see here

If you have any hair care saviors that will help combat my fine, flat hair then send your recommendations my way!

Collective Beauty Haul

Hello lovelies,

I love shopping. I am sucked in by deals and freebies. I only actually needed one of these items and look what I ended up buying from multiple places! Hey ho, I mean who is judging? My problem is that I lust on websites and before I know it I have paid and it’s already on it’s way to me before I even realise what I have done. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has this issue!?

House of Fraser

So the reason why I went spending at House of Fraser is that I had a gift voucher from Christmas and I really wanted to repurchase my Benefit Brow Pencil. Little did I know that this brow pencil is so damn popular! It’s constantly out of stock and I was waiting ages for it to come back into stock & I gave up. I decided to take advantage of the Estee Lauder gift with purchase because why the hell not!

Estee Lauder – Take it Away Total Makeup Remover see here

I had a little mini of this and I fell in love. It’s flipping brilliant and the perfect make up remover for me. Its light and takes my make up off with ease so I thought do you know I am going to buy the full size. I haven’t heard of this at all in the beauty world but I have no idea why because it’s a flipping great product. It’s not a hot cloth cleanser but I use it in the same way and it works wonders!

Estee Lauder – Nutritious Micro-Algae Pore Cleansing Jelly see here

So this product was calling my name because my pores are awful at the moment. They are so clogged up and nothing I seem to try helps. So I saw this was specifically for pore cleansing and I just knew I needed to try it out. I really hope that this helps me out because I feel like currently I am up against a loosing battle. Essentially it is another cleanser BUT this will be a second cleanser for me to ensure it’s just the pores I’m targeting. Lets hope it helps. Side note if you have any savior products for pores please let me know!

So because I brought two products from Estee Lauder I received a goodie bag which included:

Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

Advanced Night Repair

Eyeshadow Palette

Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream

Day Wear Cream

Sumptuous Extreme Mascara

The Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer

Stila – Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Wanderlust see here

Annoyingly, House of Fraser don’t currently stock this shade but I promise I did buy it from here. I already own one of these liquid eye shadows and I have fallen in love. They are absolutely beautiful and has completely changed my eyeshadow game. I thought why the hell not buy another one. This shade is completely out of my comfort zone but I think sometimes you have to shake it up and try new things, lets hope it works well!

Cult Beauty

This is where I found my little eyebrow pencil in stock. I could of just brought this BUT that’s not me so I added a few things just to make it worth while and again I just got sucked in to the beautiful world of Cult Beauty. If you haven’t ever shopped on Cult Beauty then you really need to, they have amazing brands and the website is just dreamy!

Benefit – Precisely, My Brow Pencil in Shade 4 see here

I finally have what I was looking for, seriously this massive haul is for this one product. Crazy! I had no idea how popular this product was until I was quickly running out of my current one and I was panicking that I would run out. Cult Beauty saved the day! This is my brow pencil of choice and I adore it. It’s perfect, Benefit really are the winners for me when it comes to brow products. Seriously if you haven’t tried their brow products before head over to your local counter and they will be able to point you in the right direction of what product will suit you best as well as shades.

NYX – Concealer Wand in Light see here

I was on the search for a new concealer. I have been stuck in a rut with using the wonderful Collection Lasting Perfecting Concealer which is AMAZING but I was getting a little bored. I saw NYX was on Cult Beauty and thought do you know what it’s time for a change. I very rarely buy new concealers because I love the ones I have but I’m all up for a mix up and it’s so damn affordable!

Stila – Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Rose Gold Retro see here

Yes I know, another one! I just can’t help myself the colours are just so damn pretty. I am really getting into experimenting with different eyeshadow colours and who doesn’t want rose gold on their lids!? I cannot wait for occasions to wear this because the colour looks absolutely beautiful. I feel as though this is going to become an addiction because their colours are just too much, seriously tell me that they aren’t pretty.

A trusty winner when it comes to buying beauty products. I would say go when it’s quiet because otherwise it ends up like a jumble sale and seriously it’s not worth it. I always go late at night and near enough have the whole section to myself and I can really find some amazing goodies. I can’t link them to their website because it’s not how they work but if you haven’t been to TK MAXX for beauty products then it’s a must who doesn’t love a bargain!

Nip + Fab – Glycolic Overnight Purifying Gel

So I pick up all my Nip + Fab products up from TK MAXX because you can pick them up for a fraction of the price. I find the brand a little pricey so when you can pick this product for £6 instead of £15, to me it’s a no brainer. These whole overnight products interest me and I want to know what they exactly do. I’m not a massive fan of the whole sticky pillow face vibe but I’m willing to try. I will be doing a review on this product so keep your eyes peeled!

Eylure – Fleur de Force Brow Palette

I have heard an awful lot of things about Fleur’s eyebrow range and for whatever reason I haven’t got round to picking anything up. I saw this for £2 and I thought well it’s silly not to try it out. I’m not the biggest fan of brow powder but I’m open to try new products and with so many people enjoying this product I thought come on girl change it up a bit. I like that their is two different colours so I report back and I’ll let you know how I get on.

That’s all folks! I have been on a spending ban for a couple of weeks so I don’t think their will be another haul anytime soon. I have so many new products to try out now and I cannot wait! Please let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them.

Review: Makeup Obsession Highlighters

Hello my lovelies,

I literally have the longest list of products to review and I am slowly getting through them so you will have to bare with me! So today’s post is with regards to a brand called Makeup Obsession. Now, I have heard of this brand for around 18 months when they were being launched in Boots. To date I have only seen them in one Boots store and that was Brighton. My local Boots stores that are reasonably sized don’t stock them. The way I got my hands on their products was through Tam Beauty which are the creators of Make Up Revolution and MUA. Very good website for affordable make up and they always have sales on!

The beauty of Make Up Obsession products is that it is based on the idea of customization palettes. So, you buy for example a blank palette and then buy pans of bronzer, eyeshadow and on this occasion I brought highlighters. I think it’s a great idea because you could make your own face palette or put some eye shadows in there – the choice really is yours. I suppose like the basis on MAC but for me a lot easier to get the pans in & out and they are all the same size!

I actually brought this in their sale around 6 months ago which was an already made palette. I didn’t know where to start on choosing so I chose the easy way out and brought one someone else had kindly put together, I know lazy! I think I paid around £8 for the whole palette but I believe the prices are the following: for a blank palette between £4-£8 depending on the size and £2/£3 for each pan. For me I think this is good value for money to get the exact colours you want.

The highlighters I have for reference are: Gold, Bronze, Mars, Ice, Pop and Pearl. The picture below is unedited and gold is the furthest one away. Do excuse the bruises/cuts I have a puppy and the teething is crazy!

They are all beautiful colours in their own right, they may look similar as really a photo never does highlight it’s true justice. I absolutely love the tones depending on the look I’m going for and my general mood of how much highlighter I want on my face. The formulation of all of these are AMAZING. For £2 each I’m seriously impressed, they aren’t the most pigmented but actually I like building highlighter up and these is nothing worse than too much highlight and just looking like a ball of glitter!

All the colours are so creamy and blend well onto the skin. I haven’t had an issue with any of these products and my foundations and I have really given these a good test. My favourite shades from this palette is Bronze & Pop. Two completely different colours but my oh my they really work well for my skin tone. I just love a good highlight and this palette is perfect for experimenting with.

Overall, I am really happy with this palette. It’s a shame this brand is not spoken about more because their products really are amazing and especially for the price point. I believe this is stocked on and TAM beauty so if you are on there browsing I would highly recommend having a little look to see if anything takes your fancy and I’m sure it will!

Let me know if you have tried any of Make Up Obsessions highlighters before and what your thoughts are. Also, any recommendations of what products to try next would be really helpful!

Boots Haul

Hello my lovelies,

So recently Boots has a 70% off sale which obviously a shopaholic like me couldn’t refuse. When I went into store I’ll be honest and a lot of their stock had gone and I was a little gutted. However with the bits I picked up I couldn’t be more happy, seriously who can refuse 70% off – clearly not me!

Sleek – Ready to Party Gift Set see here

Sadly, this gift set is no longer available with Boots but if you really want to get your hands on it I have put the link to Amazon where some are still available. Now this retailed I believe for around £40 in Boots full price, I picked this up for around £13.50. I know it’s an absolute bargain! The set contains:

  • Solstice Highlighting Palette
  • I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette – Gleaming in Gold
  • Lip VIP Lipstick – Walk of Fame
  • Matte Me Metallic Lip Cream – Roman Copper
  • Matt Me Lip Cream – Vino Tinto
  • Eau La La Eye Liner
  • Full Fat Lash Mascara
  • Glitter Eyeliner – Gold
  • Dip it Eyeliner – Black

Yea A LOT of products for £13.50, to be honest the product that screamed out to me the most was the highlighting palette for whatever reason I have never got round to picking it up. I have no idea why because an awful lot of people own this and rave about it. Now I finally have it! I don’t own an awful lot of Sleek make up so I thought this was a good excuse to try some different products from them. I’m sure I will let you know how I get on don’t you worry.

Soap & Glory – Spa Wonder Gift Set see here

Again this set is no longer available on either the Soap and Glory or Boots website. But, I have linked this to Amazon where some are still available! So, who doesn’t love a Soap and Glory Gift set? When the little sticker in the corner said the contents were worth £78 I was like babe how much is this. So it retailed for £50 and I got it for £19.50 another complete bargain. Over the past year I have been trying more and more from the brand and for this price it was silly not to pick this up! This has the following products in it:

  • SMOOTHIE STAR – Deep Moisture Body Milk
  • FACE & SOAP CLARITY – Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash
  • CLEAN ON ME – Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel
  • RIGHTEOUS BUTTER – Body Butter
  • RIGHTEOUS BUTTER – Creamy Body Wash
  • THICK & FAST – High-Definition Collagen Coat Mascara
  • SCRUB OF YOUR LIFE – Body Scrub
  • SUPERCAT – Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen
  • SEXY MOTHER PUCKER – Lip Gloss in Plums Up
  • BRIGHT & BEAUTIFUL – Radiance Boosting Mask

I can’t actually believe how many products are in this box! I am super exciting to try some of the products that I haven’t tried before like the radiance mask and the sexy mother pucker lip gloss. But also welcome my firm favourite products back into my like like the supercat liquid eyeliner. The products that I haven’t used before be sure to keep an eye out as I will be doing some reviews!

Dove – Regenerate Nourishment Shampoo & Conditioner see here

A little hair care, I know impressive right? Dove is a brand which I love for staples and actually their hair care products are really lovely! I have had some from their hair care range before and absolutely loved them so when I saw them on offer I was like I need to get my hands on them. I went for damaged and extremely distressed hair. Now I know that seems a little scary but my hair isn’t in the best condition and I am forever needing moisture. I’m quite interested to see what they have in store for my hair and whether there are any differences.

That’s all guys, although there wasn’t much to show I have accumulated an awful lot of products! I cannot wait to get using them. Let me know if you have used any of these products and what your thoughts are on them!

Review: L’Oreal Hydra Genius

Hello my lovelies,

Skincare in the winter months is so important, you need to make sure your skin is hydrated as much as possible and sometimes this means that you need to change the products you use. L’Oreal as you may or may not know have launched a lot of new skincare products in the past year or so which have really caught the eye of many people. They are really doing the drugstore proud by showing you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg on skincare to treat and look after your skin. This is something I am all for I’m sorry but not everyone can afford Sunday Riley Prices!

I picked up  the L’Oreal Hydra Genius around the time it launched which I believe was summer – don’t quote me on that though! I had another moisturiser on the go so the good person I was to understand and appreciate the product I waited until my previous one finished and then was able to give this a good go.  Now this formulation is for Normal to Combination skin but they also offer a Dry and Sensitive version so it should cater to everyone.

Now the product claims to: deliver pure moisture that penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously – without overloading the skin. Instantly refresh immediately absorbs, the water-like texture re-hydrates and reinvigorates the skin. Instantly lock in moisture. The formula penetrates deeply for a healthy looking glow. 72 hour recharge, it releases continuous hydration and drenches the skin with moisture for 72 hours.

What bold claims right? Now we will start with basics – the packaging. I love it, I love the colour and the bottle – it’s glass so instantly it has a more luxury feel to it. I love that it has a pump, less chance for mess! It really stands out in my collection because the colour is so bright. A lot of skincare brands stick to neutral colours and it’s nice to see L’Oreal do something different which fits perfectly with the product inside.

The texture of this is unlike anything I have tried before when it comes to a moisturiser. It is extremely light more like a water/gel texture which I think is something that for me is amazing for the skin especially when it comes to a day cream. When I first tried this I felt as though I would need a lot of product but boy how I was wrong. A little seriously goes a long way! I would say a pea sized amount is more than enough to cover your whole face.

So let’s get onto the claims of the product. It penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously without overloading the skin. This is something that I completely agree with. Sometimes with moisturiser I feel as though you do have to let it sink into the skin for a a good couple of minuets. This little baby instantly sinks into the skin and ready for the next product.

For me I am not a massive fan of overloading the skin and if I am honest my skincare routine is not that extensive and having a product like this really keeps the weight of my skin as light as possible which I absolutely love and strive for. I don’t want to be weighed down before I even apply makeup!

Again, their next point of instantly refreshes I completely agree with. I feel like my skin instantly changes when I apply this. It feels fresher and looks a whole sight better. The whole process of applying this is something I quite enjoy. The fresh smell of this instantly wakes you up in the morning, nothing offensive just fresh.

The only point I’m not completely sold on is the whole 72 hour claim. I mean that’s a long time to claim your product works for. I apply this once a day in the morning and that’s more than enough for me it does say to apply twice a day but I need something a little richer in the evening but I still notice the benefit of this come the evening. I’m just not sold on 72 hours and as the instructions say apply twice a day surely how can this really be tested? But, I do agree that it does keep my skin hydrated throughout the day.

Overall, I am really impressed with this product. Like really impressed, for the price and the results it gives me I couldn’t ask for anything more. I love the lightweight texture and I can really notice a difference in comparison to other day moisturisers I have tried. This is something different which not many other brands have tried to rival. I would really recommend this especially if you have oily skin, I really felt that it was able to keep the oils at bay and hydrate where necessary.

If you want to find out more information about this baby or pick it up for yourself, see here

Let me know if you have tried this product out and what your thoughts are.
