Hello my lovelies,
As you know I hold strong values when it comes to skincare, I absolutely love my make-up but your face will only look as your skin allows you too. A good set of skincare products is so key to looking fabulous all the time. For a long time the Effaclar Duo has been a product that has been raved about. I was so skeptical at ordering something like this online without even holding a product from the brand or knowing much about them. Recently I have realised that both Boots and Superdrug now stock La Roche-Posay so obviously it was time for me to finally try this baby out to see what all the fuss is about.
Now, the reason why this product is so talked about is because it claims the following:
‘Specifically formulated for oily and acne-prone skin in both adults and teenagers. A dual action gel moisturiser for every day that minimises the appearance of spots and blackheads, controls shine and helps protect the skin from the causes of red and brown coloured marks that are often left behind by spots. Keep skin hydrated for 24 hours. Suitable for even sensitive skin.’
For me, these are pretty big claims for a moisturiser. If you have read any skincare related posts from me before then you will know that I suffer with oily skin and the odd breakout. I wouldn’t say so much an issue with blackheads or coloured marks. Even just combating oily skin and spots are bold claims in my opinion. Of course because of this you’d be silly not to try it out and see whether it can do what it claims to do!
So first off lets start with the basics. The packaging, I love. It’s simple but uses the colour blue well in the packaging. You just know from afar exactly what the brand is and when I have seen their other products they all look similar which I like. A moisturiser in a tube is a winner, in a pot I always seem to get too much every where and it becomes very messy – I know I’m heavy handed!
The moisturiser, is a gel texture which actually I really like. Automatically you know it is going to be lighter than a thick cream and especially when it comes to night cream when it’s too thick I just know it isn’t going to help my oily skin at all. This easily soaks into the skin without feeling sticky – again another bonus! I always feel that I barely need much of this product to cover my whole face which is great because I don’t feel you get an awful lot of product for your money!
Just so you are aware, I don’t use this as a morning moisturiser by all means you can but I have a different day cream. Also, I don’t use this every evening and actually I don’t think I am alone in this. I use this when my skin is having a rough time because within a night or two my skin looks a whole load better! It’s some sort of magic cream and it’s actually so refreshing to notice visible differences in your skin by changing one product in your routine!
I use this for around a week at a time and when my skin is looking fantastic again I stop using it. Now, to some this may sound strange but I don’t want my skin to get used to it because for me I don’t think the results will be long term. I suppose you would say this is my spot treatment of choice rather than a daily moisturiser. It just works for me this way.
I must add it also does an incredible job of controlling my oily skin. Again, when I have a breakout the oils within my skin are more prominent and this little baby has the ability to get everything back to normal in no time at all – what more could you want!?
I do love this product an awful lot, it is my savior when I am having a tough time with my skin. I would say that I only need to use this maybe once a month for a week and then I’m all good – impressive right? I 100% agree with the claims that the brand make with regards to spots and oily skin. However, I can’t comment on the blackheads or the coloured marks as this isn’t something I suffer with.
I would say if you are contemplating buying this I would seriously recommend this if you have skin like mine because it works just a treat! It’s my secret weapon against breakouts! I really want to try more products from La Roche-Posay now because I enjoy this one so much. Any recommendations of what to try next would be greatly appreciated. Also, let me know if you have tried this before & what your thoughts are – do you love it as much as I do?
If you want to get your hands on this baby you can buy it here

I used the entire Effaclar products when I was teenager and my skin was oily! It was my savior! I remenber talking with my friends and none of them liked but I loved it! When I feel my skin oilier or have a bad case of breakout I still use the effaclar daily cream and cleanser and it does miracles to my skin! x

I have dry skin and I LOVE Effaclar. I don’t use it all that often but if I ever have a small breakout or get a little breakout around my period I always reach for this first. It’s perfect on my sensitive skin and keeps me matte but not too dry. Seems to work for everyone! x
