October Favourites

Hello my lovelies!

I’m back! I have had a few weeks away from my blog this month for various different reasons but I’m back and there is no better way to come back than sharing my favourites with you. October for me has been a complete roller coaster ride full of dreadful lows combined with some amazing personal achievements. I am ending the month on a positive note as I have so much to look forward to including Berlin next month and helping my big sister plan her wedding and CHRISTMAS! This month I have tried to use new products or products that are different to my normal and actually I have really enjoyed it.

Make Up Revolution – Soph X Highlighter Palette see here

When this came out, I knew I had to get my hands on it. As a fellow creator I do try my best to support them BUT only if it appeals to me. I’m not one of these people who buys everything because I just know I wouldn’t use it all. On a serious note, who can refuse a highlighter palette with shades as beautiful as these. I must say on a slight downer I’m not a fan of the colour of the packaging..

Aside from that the highlighters are AMAZING. I love every single color and I know I am going to get so much use out of this. It’s just perfect and she has done an amazing job! The pigmentation is actually pretty impressive and so easy to control how much highlight you want. I know I will be using this for a long period of time because I just can’t seem to put it away or stop looking at it. It’s so affordable for what you get 8 highlighters for £8 – bargain!

Sephora – Supreme Cleansing Oil see here

This really is a first for me having a cleansing oil, I have naturally oily skin so I had no idea how this was going to go down with my skin, but I have fallen in love. This is near enough the only cleanser I have used this month. It’s so easy to use and it does such a good job of removing makeup. It feels so luxurious on your skin while your massaging it in and it leaves your skin feeling so soft afterwards. I’m sad because I want to stop using this because I have no idea when I will be in a Sephora again to pick this up. But, I don’t want to stop using it because it’s so lovely to use. Serious dilemma’s here! Seriously if you have never tried a cleansing oil I really do recommend this one if you pop into Sephora.

L’Oreal – Hydra Genius see here

I have had this in my skin care collection for a few months now waiting for my moisturiser to run out. This was the month I could finally start using it. It’s such a strange consistency because it’s so light and more of a gel/liquid texture. The reviews I have read on this are pretty impressive and I’m realising very quickly why. I normally apply just half a pump which is enough to apply all over my face which really is nothing and it quickly sinks into the skin. I have noticed a real difference in my skin using this. It’s perfect for my oily skin and seems to somehow control this. I’m not a massive fan on the scent but that is really me being picky. I will be doing a full review on this so keep your eyes peeled!

Clinique – Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer see here

I have mentioned this a few times on my blog and there is a reason why – because it’s AMAZING. It has quickly become one of my favourite ever foundations, for me this is a pretty big statement. From the application to the end result I am just truly in love. I love that it is a medium coverage and can be buildable to a high coverage. Normally if I need a high coverage that is long lasting I would use my Estee Lauder Double Wear, this has now demoted and this is seriously my go to. It even means most of the time I don’t need concealer! I just use a brightener for my underneath my eyes. Incredible! I cannot fault this baby and I love it so so much. The shade range is incredible – if you are on the hunt for a new foundation go test this one out you won’t be disappointed!

Marc Jacobs – Dot Perfume see here

I go through phases with perfume. I get bored of a scent after a while and I have to switch it up. This one I hadn’t worn for a while and decided to whip it back out, I fell in love all over again. There is a reason why I love this and it all came back to me. Fragrances for me are so personal and bring back so many different memories and for whatever reason this perfume brings back so many happy memories. This for me is my perfect winter scent and I know I will continue to use it for the next couple of months and smile every time I put it on. It is actually one of my top 3 perfumes and I would still put it in that category.

MAC – Blue Brown Pigment see here

I can’t explain to you how much I adore this pigment. This is truly beautiful and I’m now 100% completely converted to MAC pigments and I want them all. The colour is just stunning, I have never in my life seen anything as beautiful as this. I know that seems like a very bold statement but until you apply it you will have no idea. From different angles the colour changes in different lights and every angle you see it in is beautiful and I am so blown away.

It’s so easy to apply and it doesn’t budge. Obviously the pigmentation is incredible, I just have never used something so amazing. Seriously, this has quickly become one of my favourite ever purchases EVER. I knew as soon as I saw it years ago I would love it but seriously exceeded all my expectations. Go to your local MAC store and swatch this I promise you, you will fall in love I can’t see how anyone couldn’t.

Review| Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Hello my lovelies,

I feel that drugstore foundations don’t get reviewed as much as the higher end brands so I thought I would treat everyone and have a talk about a foundation that I have found whilst browsing the likes of Boots. For me, as I have got older I have struggled to find foundations that work for me. I have developed an oily complexion which is just great! I used to be able to pick up near enough any foundation and it would work, now it’s a blooming hard job to find one I like and actually does the job I need. I have tried the likes of high end right down to the cheapest brands on the hunt to find the perfect foundation..

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

The Rimmel Match Perfection foundation I picked up a good few months ago and after a lot of applications I thought I would share my thoughts with you. For reference I picked up the shade 103 True Ivory, although I’m not crazy pale I’m not blessed with the best skin tone. The colour is actually a really good match for my skin tone – I do sometimes struggle with colour matching as the artificial lights in the shop never give a true colour shade! I love that nearly all of the Rimmel foundation’s come in a glass bottle, it makes it more durable and more desirable to use as they just look that much better than a tube.

Another must for me is a pump, this whole pouring malarkey is not for me. I always manage to pour way too much so I never really buy foundation without a pump or I have to buy one. Another plus is that is has SPF 20 in, this is something that I really do look out for in a foundation. In the winter months you can still damage your skin from the sun when it makes an appearance so to know I don’t have to put another product on my face every day is a winner for me!

I use around two pumps on my face for full coverage, I would say this is a medium coverage foundation but is buildable depending on what your preference is. Now what actually drew me to this foundation was the claim of ‘pore blurring’ doesn’t everyone want this!? Now I don’t have the biggest pores in the world but they are visible so anything to minimise this is a winner from me. I also really love how lightweight the foundation is on my skin, it never looks cakey and stays in place for a good 10 hours.

I find that this foundation works well both with a brush or a beauty blender, there isn’t no major difference both do the same job. Which is great because I do like to mix up my applicators – it gets boring using the same thing!

However, as much as the application is great and feels nice it doesn’t work with my skin. This is not for us oily girls – as soon as I apply this I have a shiny forehead. I do think this is my fault as I didn’t pay much attention to the whole ’24 hour moisture’ BUT having said that I don’t expect it to be making my skin look visibly worst as soon as I apply it. When powdered it does look good but the whole topping up with powder is a massive must for this foundation – this is not for me.

I don’t find that it makes any difference to my pores, they look exactly the same so it’s major selling point just doesn’t do anything for me. I don’t know if because I’m oily it counteracts this but seriously I’m not that oily! It’s gutting because I actually really like everything else about this foundation and I have applied this so many time and still to this day I’m undecided as to whether I can see past it’s flaws or not.

If you have dry skin then I’m more than 80% sure that you will enjoy this, I’m clearly the idiot that didn’t pick up on the whole moisture part. It’s annoying because the foundation itself and the texture is amazing I just wish it was more of a mattifying foundation because actually it isn’t that dewy.

I’m so undecided about this – I do think I will use the rest of the bottle because I don’t completely hate this. I just have to powder an awful lot before I leave the house. I don’t think I would repurchase and I think going forward I will be reading the whole bottle before I commit to buying foundation. You live and learn right!

Let me know if you have tried this foundation and what your thoughts are – I would love to know. Also, any oil control/mattifying foundations that you love send them my way!

Top 3 // Liquid Eyeliners

Hello my lovelies,

Eyeliner is a part of make up that I cannot live without. I always line my eyes with liner I just feel as though it creates definition and completes any eyeshadow look. However, I have never mastered the art of winged eyeliner. I just think it’s not for when I have actually winged the eyeliner out my eyes look so small, I just don’t think it suits me. However over the years I have found that liquid eyeliners are the best for me, with regards to application and the application on my eyes beats the likes of any pencil or gel liner. So I thought I would share with you my favourite ones that are constantly in my collection.

Soap & Glory – Supercat Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen see here

I have loved this for the longest time. It is one of the only Soap and Glory products that I actually love and constantly repurchase. It does have a fairly thick nib but actually unless you are extremely heavy handed you can still create those skinny fine lines that everyone longs for. The pigmentation is amazing, I mean I know there isn’t officially different shades of black but this really is jet black.

It’s the perfect eyeliner to sweep across your lids, it never feels like your dragging your lids at all. Another plus is that I never find that it never smudges and never moves throughout the day. I use this one so often because for the price it’s great and seems to last the longest time. I do feel that sometimes liquid eyeliners are prone to drying out quickly but not this one!

Collection – Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner see here

This was my first love when it came to the world of liquid eyeliner. When you first try something that is out of your comfort zone I always go for a cheap one to see if I actually like the product and as soon as I applied this for the first time I was converted from pencil eyeliner to liquid. It does absolutely everything I want and more. It wears beautifully and I never feel as though it fades throughout the day. The application is a breeze and feels as though you aren’t even touching your lids.

This is such a fast drying formula as well is that you don’t have to wait a while for the liner to dry before you continue on with the rest of your makeup, it just stays there all day. I have repurchased this so many times and although I have more expensive liners I will always have this in my collection because it is such good value for money. I urge everyone if you like liquid liners or wanting to try it out to head to your nearest Collection stand and pick it up – you won’t regret it!

Kat Von D – Tattoo Liner in Trooper Black see here

Last but by no means least a product that had to feature in my top 3. This really is a product that has been around the beauty world for the longest time and it is the most recent find of the 3. I actually have a full size and a mini version of this, because – well why not! This eyeliner really does stand up to the name of being a tattoo liner, it just stays in place all day. I would say that you do need to give this a little time to dry, so just bare that in mind.

This liner is different to the other two I have mentioned in the sense that rather than in being a pen the nib is actually made up of very fine brush hairs which means it’s a lot easier to work with if creating winged eyeliner. I would say as much as I love these  when I have all three on the back of my hand this is the least pigmented of the three, but this is easily built up.

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

I love all three and I know that I couldn’t be without them! I know I will be repurchasing them for a long time. Let me know whether you have tried any of these three out and what your thoughts are on them – I would love to know. Also, any recommendations to try out new liquid eyeliners would be appreciated!

Review| Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Hello my lovelies,

This palette has been

reviewed to high heaven and I have seen so many bloggers talk about this, I thought it was about time I gave my opinion. ABH is a brand that until I brought this palette I had never ventured into before. I’m not sure why maybe because it wasn’t readily available or because it didn’t seem that interesting and mainly sold eyebrow products. When I discovered Cult Beauty I saw this palette, looked at it and thought I want that. It is one of the most expensive palettes I have ever purchased and I thought it was about time to let you know whether it is worth the splurge.

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

I brought the palette to broaden my horizons in eyeshadow, for me I always stick to the same colours – the nudes with a bit of glitter in my eyes it can’t go wrong. I knew I needed to mix it up and I thought why not spend lots of money on colours that I may or may not like, smart! The packaging was the first thing that drew my eye to it who doesn’t want this pinky/purple palette in their collection. It’s suede feeling which is nice and white writing. Simple yet effective! However, although it looks nice it’s a bugger to keep clean as you can tell from my photo.

It’s not travel friendly in that way and it is really annoying me because I don’t know how to keep it clean. Its sturdy but not practical for heavy handed people like me. You may or may not care about this but it’s good to bear in mind. Personally I don’t mind it just ruins the aesthetics a little but I can see past that. The major plus is that you open it up and is has a mirror – I’m sold on this point alone. I hate palettes that don’t have a mirror – extremely unhelpful.

Now onto the eye shadows themselves. The palette is a mix of beautiful brown shades along with glitter AND orange and pink shades. At first the whole pink shade scared me, how do you even begin to pull this off. I don’t want to look like a 10 year old trying make up for the first time. I will be honest and say I didn’t use them for a few months BUT I watched a few tutorials and I was sold I can now wear pink eyeshadow and for it to look half decent!

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

You can really create so many different looks in this palette, it’s so versatile which is what I love about it. Whether you want a natural look or all out smokey there is something for everyone and every occasion. The shadows themselves are AMAZING, a lot better than Urban Decay I really think they are the best I have ever tried. They are pigmented, easily blendable, creamy and zero fall out. What more could you want? Every single shade I have used in this palette and this is something I very rarely find with a palette. I always end up leaving a few that just aren’t my cup of tea but not this selection.

I’m just in love and actually I don’t really have a bad word to say about this product. Apart from the packaging that isn’t travel friendly but hey nothing is perfect. I don’t regret a single penny I spent on this, it’s absolutely beautiful and I know I will be using this for a long time. I really understand why people adore this because I feel exactly the same. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone I just can’t explain my love. This really is a game changer in the world of eyeshadow. I never thought anything could top Urban Decay shadows but I really was wrong.

ABH is a brand that I will be definitely be taking more seriously in the beauty world. I really do need to try out more of their products because it isn’t anything like this eye shadow palette I feel like I’m going to love a lot more. Let me know what you would recommend for me! Also let me know if you have this palette and what you think of it! I picked my palette up from Cult Beauty
