REVIEW| Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash

Hello my lovelies,

For me, Garnier is a brand that I have loved for around 8 years. They have such a broad range of products depending on your skin type at really affordable prices. If you have been reading my blog for a little while that I absolutely adore Garnier’s Micellar Water. Seriously, best micellar water I have ever tried and I will never use anything else – it just works for me, stick to what you know!

This year Garnier have brought out their Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash and of course due to how much I love their micellar water I just knew I needed to get my hands on this. I have had it for a while I must say but only in recent months have I tried it out as I have been using other products. Gel face washes are my favourite, I much prefer the texture and feel that they do a better job. In my head I just knew it was a no brainer that I would love this..

I will start off with the packaging because this is obviously the first thing that you take in when looking at the product. I love it, it continues with the look of their original Micellar Water – who doesn’t love a spot of pink in their skincare!? I also adore the fact that it comes with a pump, small things like this please me – it just makes my life so much easier.

When I first saw the product, it definitely looked like a gel based formula and that is exactly what I wanted. However, when I first used the product I was so disappointed with the consistency.  It was very watery and nothing like a gel formula which is what I was expecting. You have to use the product very quickly especially if you use this in the shower like me. It really is a very water based face wash, which is fine but don’t promote it as a gel formula.

The product itself works well, it definitely cleans my face and leaves the same feeling as when I use the micellar water – you can really tell that they are from the same family of products which I love. It really is perfect for rubbing all over you face and not worrying too much about going in your eyes and mouth because it is perfume free and is even suitable for sensitive skin.

Now, I love grapes I love the taste and the smell so when I saw that it contained grape extract I was really impressed. It is a fresh scent which is on the slightly sweet scale – perfect especially for a face wash. I honestly think this smells awful – this is not a grape scent and not the sort of grapes I have ever come into contact with. It has such an artificial smell and just smells of alcohol – it’s personally not something I want on my face.

Overall, I am completely on the fence about this product. I was expecting something so different and for it to feel like the complete opposite in texture and smell it just puts me off. It is a really good product – it does was it says it will do, wash your face. But, I just don’t think the product is for me and I can’t get over how disappointed I am every time I use it. I wanted to fall in love with the product but I’m not and in fact quite far from it. I mean of course I will continue to finish it but I know I won’t be repurchasing it. It’s just such a shame – the first Garnier product that I have tried that just doesn’t hit the mark..

  1. I have oily skin and I use cetaphil cleanser. If you use the one for oily skin, the consistency is wonderful. Quite a nice thick gel that works wonders! I have only experienced the oily skin one, but I would expect all types would be just as great, I definitely recommend! x
