Review – Formula X Nail Polish

Hello my lovelies,

I recently heard on the grapevine that Formula X nail polishes were now in TK Maxx stores- YAY! I headed straight down to my local store to see if the rumors were true and to my amazement they had a small selection of Formula X. I only picked one up as I have never tried any of their nail polishes before even though I have read some amazing reviews. Obviously they are an american brand which makes it tricky to get hold of here in the UK so I was incredibly happy that I could try one out.

I thought that they would be expensive considering they are a big brand in the US but they are being sold for ยฃ2.99, yes you heard me right! As you know with TK Maxx most of their stock differs from store to store which is a little rubbish, but I looked on their website and although they are not selling individual nail polishes, they are stocking the Formula X gift sets so I would head down to your local store to see what you can find!

The shade I picked up was ‘Tornado’ which is a dark olive green colour almost verging on grey. I thought this would be a perfect shade to try out due to the colder months here in the UK and I don’t have anything like this in my collection. The other colours they had in stock were quite bright and I didn’t think it was appropriate for this time of year.

The bottle its self is simple but I like it. I like the white top although I don’t think it will stay white for very long – I am a little clumsy with nail polish! You take the white top off and there is a circular top which unscrews the nail polish and applicator. I was a little worried how I was going to paint my nails with the huge top of the bottle! The top inside is a lot smaller and easier to work with – I promise!

It is quite a thick consistency but I quite like that as it was fairly opaque on the first application, so this may be worth noting if you prefer a thinner consistency. I applied two coats like I always do, I wanted to make a fair comparison to other nail polishes in my collection. I then applied, as always my Seche Vite top coat. It left me with a beautiful finish to my nails and I absolutely love the colour. I haven’t seen anything like this before and I will be wearing it quite often now! It is opaque which I am extremely impressed by, but I did read a lot of reviews that said how good they were but with a novice like me it’s nice to try it out for myself.

I have had the nail polish on for around 4 days now with little chipping. I am so happy that I picked this up and it certainly didn’t disappoint! I will be going down to my local TK Maxx store very soon to pick up some more because I just love the formulation of this and would highly recommend!

If you have tried the Formula X nail polishes let me know what your favorite shades are as I am most definitely on the hunt for more!
