Review – Collection #BlushAndGlow

Hello my lovelies,

So I don’t know about you but I actually find it really hard to find good palettes from the drug store. Apart from the likes of Make Up Revolution, I don’t feel like there are other brands that can amaze with a palette. Especially when it comes to face powders. There are so many when it comes to luxury brands but not so much further down the price points. I found this Collection palette and thought I owed it to myself to see whether it can be comparable or if not better than some more luxury palettes that I own.

Collection for me, is a brand I have loved for a long time. I don’t buy an awful lot from them but the likes of their lasting perfection concealer and their primer are cult products in my collection. I have never really brought any face powders from them of any description before so I thought let’s give this a go. For £4.99 for 4 powders is a little bit of a no brainer for me.

It comes with a Highlighter, Contour and 2 blush shades which actually all look really nice. I was most intrigued about the contour shade as for me to find a cheaper alternative to my most loved contour product, Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer would be a real winner for me.

The packaging is a little basic for me and easily gets dirty as it’s just cardboard with a clear piece of plastic in the middle. I do like that you can see the shades but it does get a little messy and I am forever trying to keep this looking acceptable. Anyway, all the powders are really creamy. I find that they blend really nice into the skin and with the other products that are on my face. I never feel as though they look cakey and to be honest Collection have found the perfect formula when it comes to pigmentation.

From the picture above the furthest shade away is the contour shade, which is matte. The next one in is the highlighter, which for me is a little too subtle for me but has a lovely glow. The next two are the blushes, as you can see one is more on the coral tone of blushes whereas the closest on in the picture is more of a true pink to me.

The contour shade was the biggest thing for me in this palette I wanted to find something that was a much cheaper alternative to Benefit’s Hoola. I think, in this little baby I may of found it. The colours of the two are near enough the same and the way this applies onto the skin is a dream. It never becomes cakey or looks un-natural. I never really have to try to hard to make this product look good as it does it by itself. I have been using it an awful lot recently and to be honest there is no difference between them. I think I am onto a massive winner with this one!

The highlighter shade, hmm.. I mean there is nothing wrong with it. It’s just not my cup of tea. I like highlighter an awful lot and I like to put quite a bit on and I find this quite difficult to build up to get to the look I want to achieve. When I want a more natural look, which I will be honest is not very often then this will work. I’m sure there are people out there that will use this shade more than me. I would say that this is the least used product in the palette.

Next the two blushes. I love the formula of these. One little tap with a brush into these and you’re good to go on your cheeks. I just find these so easy to use. The pigmentation is great and whether you like a subtle flush of colour or want something a little more intense you will be able to achieve it. I would say I tend to go more for the coral blush, but after taking the swatches I now want to wear the more true, softer pink shade.

Overall, I really love this palette. For the price I am really impressed. The formula of these products really do rival some of my luxury products which I never thought I would be saying especially when I first picked this up. The only thing for me that let’s this quad down is the packaging. But, I suppose for the price it’s what you pay for. To be honest if they improved the packaging and maybe added a mirror then I would pay more for it. It’s worth it trust me!

Empties #16

Hello my lovelies,

Another month another Empties post. To be honest this time round I am pretty shocked at how hair care heavy it is considering I use very few products on my hair. Yes I am a little lazy when it comes to my hair, I pretty much wash it and then brush it and hope for the best. A lot of these are products I have never used before so I am sure it will be interesting to let you know my thoughts and whether I would pick them up again.

NYX – Matte Finish Setting Spray see here

I go through phases of using setting sprays and at the moment I am going through the phase of using them. Do I think they change my make up game? Nope. But in this humid weather it’s actually really nice to spritz this and just aid my powder in doing its job. I always go for a matte setting spray not that I buy them an awful lot. To be honest I find it hard to tell the difference in the actual product from others apart from how it is absorbs on my skin. I wouldn’t know whether to recommend this or not because I’m not convinced setting sprays in general do that much anyway. But I used it up and it’s another product gone in my collection. Probably won’t repurchase just because I have other setting sprays I am yet to try to see if they wow me or not.

Primark – Oval Cosmetic Pads

A cult classic when it comes to my empties post. I will not use another cotton pad other than these I just simply refuse. Not are they stupidly affordable at 90p for 100 pads they are the best I have ever used. I’ll happily argue this point ’till my heart is content. Annoyingly I can’t link this as Primark have still not jumped onto the online retail world however if you have never tried them then you must, honestly go to your local Primark store and pick them up you will not be disappointed.

Sephora – Supreme Cleansing Oil see here

I have fallen in love with this. This brought me into the world of cleansing oil goodness. I just love it, I am gutted that I have used it up but no fear I have another one waiting to be used. I was always worried that using an oil with oily skin that it would be a disaster but I was proven wrong. In fact I feel as though it is able to balance out my skin and I never feel oily after using this. It removes every little bit of my makeup and leaves my skin feeling amazing. If you are thinking of trying an oil cleanser then I highly recommend this one. I am next going to Sephora in September and I will be stocking up on this little baby!

Loreal – Pure Clay Detox Mask see here

I haven’t finished a pot of face mask in the longest time so I had no shame in high five-ing myself when I finished this baby. To be honest it was no surprise for me that it was this baby because I absolutely love it. In fact I love the whole range but this is by far my favourite. I really notice differences in my skin when I use this. I really do need to buy another pot of this so I am not without for to long. I have written a review on this see here  so rather than writing the same things twice go check it out.

John Freida – Frizz Ease Leave in Conditioner see here

So my hair is fine, and I have a lot of it so it’s prone to just knotting up. Conditioner alone does not fight through the tangles so I swear by de-tanglers and leave in conditioners. I have really fallen in love with this product. This is the first bottle I have used up of it and I am already missing it. I just love how my hair feels after brushing and it just makes the whole process of brushing wet hair painless and easy. Again, I have written a review on this so I will leave it here of a bit more detail. My only issue is the John Freida is a little pricey so I am waiting for this to go on offer before I pick this up again.

Batiste – Dry Shampoo in Cherry see here

Another favourite product that I absolutely adore. I go through so many of these bottles and I have no intention of swapping up my dry shampoo any time soon. It works and has saved me and my hair more times than I would like to admit. It does the job and so affordable. Sometimes it’s good to stick to what you know especially when you love it, you just know where you stand no need for disappointment then. I would say even though I use the same scents I like them all, I’m not picky I just like the look of the bottle.

Benefit – They’re Real Mascara see here

I have had this in my collection than longer than I would like to admit and to be honest I knew it was time to give this up and throw it away. For me it was more for sentimental reasons as it was one of the first ever high-end purchases I ever made because everyone and their dog loved this mascara. Did I? No, and to be honest I really have never understood the hype about it. I don’t like the brush the look of my lashes were nothing special and to be honest the worst part is that it is a bugger to remove. There are a lot better mascaras on the market and are cheaper than this. I much prefer Benefit’s Roller Lash, sorry this one just isn’t my cup of tea and I am glad this is finally gone!

Natural World – Volume & Shine Shampoo & Conditioner see here

Another lot of products I am glad to see the back of. I love the brand and how they are a natural product but did it do much for my hair? Nope. I mean for me, there was no added volume or shine in my hair after using them. In fact the only thing I noticed about these were how static my hair was. I mean it was getting a little silly by how much. I have written a full review of them here but unfortunately there were just not my cup of tea.

Maybelline – Lash Sensational Mascara see here

Another mascara! This one as you can tell have been very well loved. I have gone through quite a lot of these in my time and for a long time I did believe that this was the best drug store mascara out there. However, my mind has changed slightly as I have found some amazing L’Oreal mascaras in recent months. It’s such a reliable mascara and you know exactly what you stand. It gives both volume and length and to be honest does make your lashes look sensational. I will repurchase this little baby but I have a lot of mascaras in my collection at the moment so when I use a few more up I’m sure this will be on my repurchase list.

That’s all folks! Gold star to you if you managed to get to the end of this, it was a bit of a long one! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them.

Review – Botanics Softening Cleanser

Hello my lovelies,

Review time! I love my make up but I do also love to focus of skincare as I think a lot of people forget how important it really is. I feel as though sometimes it is portrayed in the beauty world that you have to spend a lot of money to have good skincare products. Recently I have been hunting the drugstore for affordable skincare products to see what is on offer who don’t have an endless supply of money.

Botanics is a brand I haven’t used until this year and funnily enough the product I originally chose from them was a cleanser. As I enjoyed it I wanted to try more things from them, yes I brought another cleanser but they are different I promise you. Botanics if you haven’t heard from them are available in Boots and focus their brand on being nature inspired and trying to be organic as possible.

This range is for all skin types and is in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens in London which again really appeals to me. I’m all for trying more natural and organic products because especially for the skin you don’t want products to be full of chemicals you want it to be as natural as possible to soothe  and aid the skin.

The packaging is pretty standard, but I just love the simplicity of this. It’s a squeezy bottle so as opposed to pump based bottles I know I can get every last drop out of this which is a massive plus for me. I hate it when you have a product with a pump and you have to give up using it because you can’t seem to get the last drop out of it. Any tips for this would be greatly appreciated!

I use this like a hot cloth cleanser so I squeeze a little onto my hand, rub it into my face and then remove with a warm wet cloth/flannel. It does say remove with tissues but I stick to what I know! It feels so lovely massaging onto the skin and doesn’t irritate my eyes at all. It does a pretty good job of removing most of the mascaras I own, the only one it struggles with is L’Oreal mascaras but I seem to have this issues with all my cleansers they are just a bugger to remove!

The smell of this is really lovely, I’m sat here smelling it and although I can’t put my finger on what it smells like it’s not overpowering just very fresh, like you are walking through pretty gardens on a summers day. I have probably described that badly but I promise it’s a really lovely scent. When I remove this from my face my skin always feels amazing and so soft. It sinks into the skin and just leaves this lovely suppleness and freshness to your skin. I think this is mainly down to the rosehip extract which is rich in omegas and essential fatty acids. It does wonders and my skin always looks great after.

For a cleanser that costs £7.99 I don’t think you can really go wrong and has made such a good impression with me. I don’t think I can find fault with it and the picky person I am that’s pretty impressive. It just shows that actually you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg on skincare to see good results. I can’t stop using this and it’s all I have been reaching for recently.

I do need to try more from Botanics, so if any of you have any recommendations please send them my way it will be greatly appreciated!

Top 3 Primers

Hello my lovelies,

So I am back with an old school post for me. When I first starting blogging back in 2016 I started a series of my Top 3 products. I really enjoyed writing them but there are only so many categories you can write about and to be honest I had other ideas and posts I wanted to write and this was forgotten about. Now, over 18 months on I thought it would be interesting to revisit the posts that I wrote and see what has stayed and what has changed.

If you would like to see my original Top 3 Primer post see here

Laura Mercier – Foundation Primer see here

This was actually in my original post and I am still absolutely loving it. I’ll be honest and admit I don’t use this every day, it’s the sort of product where it gets forgotten about for a little while and then as soon as you apply you fall in love all over again. I just can’t fault it at all. My skin always feels amazing when this is applied and every foundation loves it too. This is more of a silicone based primer which is what I probably lean towards as I find it creates a matte finish which is what I go for. I still can’t believe how expensive it is though but it’s one of the products where it’s worth those extra pennies.

Nip + Fab – Viper Venom Micro Blur Fix see here

If you have been reading my blog recently then you know I absolutely adore this primer. I have found love and I just constantly pick this one up to apply. I use this so often and the amount I have used it I’m surprised that there is still some left in the bottle. You get a lot of product for your money.

Annoyingly I think this is being discontinued which is really annoying but it is currently on sale so I would pick it up if you are interested in trying it out. I actually pick up a lot of my Nip + Fab products from TK MAXX – I’m a little bit of a bargain hunter! Again this is a more silicone/gel texture which gives more of a matte finish but is really hydrating for the skin. If you have tired the Laura Mercier foundation primer but can’t justify the price tag then it might be worth trying this baby as it’s half the price!

Loreal – Infallible Mattifying Primer  see here

Yes there is a theme here they are all mattifying and all silicone based – I can’t help what I like! This is well and truly a silicone primer and I love it. For me this is one of the best drugstore primers I have found. I use this slightly less than the other two primers I have mentioned as I whip this out when I am having a tough time with oils on my skin and I need something that is going to keep my face matte for as long as possible. I find it so easy to apply on the skin and works wonders with whatever foundation I choose to use. If you like silicone primers and haven’t tried this yet – then seriously you really need to, it’s a must in my opinion!

& there you have it! Let me know if you have tired any of these primers and how you got on with them. Also, do you have any recommendations for new primers to use – I must warn you I have a vast collection of primers but I am always up for a new addition!

Review: Tarte Shape Tape Matte Foundation

Hello my lovelies,

Another Sunday another review for you lovely people. So recently I have brought quite a few foundations and I thought I would start with reviewing this little baby. Tarte is a brand that in the past 6 months I have fallen in love with. I love how fun it is and the products I have tried I have been really impressed with. Recently I placed an order from Tarte which was a deal I just couldn’t refuse which included this foundation see here to find out what else I brought

So recently the Shape Tape foundations from Tarte have had an awful lot of press, good and bad. The person I am I of course wanted to see what it was all about and I was on the hunt for a new foundation. I decided to go for the matte version and this is what pretty much all my foundations are due to my oily complexion. When I was on the website I was so impressed by the shade range for a new launch, to be honest picking a shade online is so blooming hard to do but luckily I did manage to get a shade that does suit me.

As the Shape Tape concealer has been so well loved in the beauty world I just thought that I would immediately fall in love with the foundation. I have now learnt never presume!

The bottle is beautiful who doesn’t love a frosted glass bottle!? To be honest Tarte really hit the nail on the head every time when it comes to packaging I just love it and this one is no exception. I also adore that the foundation has a doe-foot applicator honestly it’s a game changer if you have never used a foundation that has one. Less mess!

Unfortunately that is where the goodness stops. I couldn’t tell you how excited I was to use this foundation. On application I just knew I was going to have issues. It took forever to blend in, I used beauty blenders, brushes the lot and it was like applying face paint. I mean I’m all up for taking a little more time to blend in but this was on another level. Instantly it didn’t sit right on certain areas of my face which was mainly under my eyes, around my nose and my upper lip. It just clumped together and looked awful.

I thought by adding concealer it may of aided the foundation but to be honest the foundation was is so dry and heavy that actually it made no difference. I quickly powder to try and stop it from getting any worse. I mean when you spend 20 minutes blending and for some miracle it blends ok  then you may be on to a winner but I just can’t seem to do this.

What makes it worse is that when you move onto a different part of your face which I normally do my eyes next I’ll be honest and say I am a little heavy handed. Normally if I get a bit of mascara on my cheek I grab a cotton bud and quickly remove it. Dab my beauty blender over it and it looks like nothing has happened. Not with this foundation. It literally removes the layer of foundation & concealer you have applied, when you try and put a little bit of concealer over it then it looks even worse. There is just seriously no room for error with this foundation.

I have tried so many different things to make this foundation work and I just can’t seem to.  I have tried different primers, no primer, different brushes/tools for applying the foundation and nothing seems to work. I just don’t know what to do with it. When it goes right it does look ok but it’s nothing groundbreaking. It’s just such a shame because I had such high hopes for this product and I have never been more disappointed.

For reference the colour I have is: Fair Light Neutral CFD1

If anyone has any tips for applying this then I would be grateful because to be honest I really don’t want to waste this. I just can’t believe Tarte would make a product this is so god damn awful I mean am I just using it wrong? I have never ever had these issues before with a foundation and I can’t express how gutted I am with it.

I don’t want to throw it away just yet I will give it the benefit of the doubt, although I don’t really know why. Let me know if you have tried this foundation and what your experience has been with it – maybe I have just have an off bottle?

If you want to try it for yourself or you want a little more information then see here it retails for a whopping £33!

Thank you for reading

Must Have Beauty Tools

Hello my lovelies,

So this is a topic I don’t often speak about on my blog, I’m not sure why because make up tools are so important. I told myself this year that I would speak more about this topic and I thought I would talk about the tools I just simply can’t live without. When it comes to tools there are a few companies that I have been quite loyal to including: of Real Techniques and Zoeva. For me they are affordable and pretty impressive. I have been delving into the world Spectrum and I have been quickly falling in love them. I do have other brands but really most of my brushes lie with those three brands.

I can’t stress how important having good brushes and tools are when applying make up. I’m not saying you should invest £100’s in brushes but just a few key tools will stand you in good stead. Make Up will never look flawless without the right tools!

Spectrum – A00 Brush see here

So annoyingly you can only pick this up a set but their sets are really good value for money. This works out to around £8 which for me is actually a bit of a bargain. Now, I use this for powder, and I love the density of this. It’s not too flimsy but it manages to apply powder with ease on the face whether this it is pressed or loose. I love the finish it gives me, and to be honest can we all appreciate how blooming gorgeous it is!?

Real Techniques – Contour Brush see here

Annoyingly this you can also only buy in a set – why do they do this!? To be honest Real Technique brushes were the first brushes I brought and they are still a hit with so many people now. The contour brush I do actually use for contouring, I find it the perfect shape to get into the hollows of my cheeks. It just seems to do all the work for me as I am awful at contouring but with this brush I just let the brush do it’s thing and actually it always looks decent – what more could you want?

Real Techniques – Setting Brush see here

This brush is amazing. I was really struggling to find the right brush for me with regards to highlight. Nothing did the job until I used this bad boy. I originally used this for powder under the eyes which was great but then I saw someone use this for highlight and it changed everything. It is the perfect shape for all of your highlighting needs and it is the only brush I will use. Luckily you can buy this individually and to be honest it’s well worth the money!

Zoeva – 317 Wing Liner Brush see here

I actually have a couple of these brushes in my collection as they work so well for brow application. I have so many different brushes in this shape but nothing seems to compare to this little baby. I find a lot of eyebrow brushes very stiff which makes it difficult to create a nice shape, this is fairly flexible which allows the movement to create the shape you need for the perfect brow. Again, so affordable and Zoeva have such a wide selection of brushes in different designs.

Crown Brush – C510 Pro Oval Shader Brush see here

I find this type of brush so hard to get hold of and for whatever reason brands just don’t believe this is an essential – but for me it definitely is. How are you meant to apply glitters or the main shadow on your lid? This little baby is perfect for both, I use it literally every day and to be honest I think I have around 4 of the same brush. To be honest I normally buy these from IMATS where you get a discount but £6 for this brush is amazing in my eyes – complete life saver.

Real Techniques – Powder Brush see here

So I don’t actually use this for setting powder in fact I use this for bronzer. I’m not to careful with application of bronzer, and this is the perfect brush to evenly distribute the powder. As it has so many hairs it effortlessly runs over my face creating a flawless, even base. I don’t to be honest have any other bronzing brush so I heavily rely on this little baby to see me through.

Zoeva – 114 Luxe Face Focus Brush see here

Another beautiful looking brush! I love the rose golden collection from Zoeva, they all look so damn pretty. So I use this brush for powdering under the eyes and setting my concealer into place. For me a large powder brush just doesn’t do the trick and it needs to be smaller and a little dainty when it comes to the eye area. In comes this brush, it is the perfect size and it is so damn soft! This brush is pretty versatile and I am sure you could use it for other things like highlight but I keep to one use per brush.

Beauty Blender – Sponge, Original see here

So I am sure everyone has heard of these. In recent years they have well and truly took the beauty world by storm. Now, yes they are a little pricey but in my opinion well worth the investment. I know a lot of people prefer the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponges but for me the original beauty blender just trumps it. The finish I get is amazing and I find that it gives such a better finish than any brush I have tried. I also use this to apply my concealer.

As I am sure you are aware, the best way to use this is to wet your blender, it works like an absolute treat and I don’t know where I would be without this little baby.

Real Techniques – Accent Brush see here

I don’t actually think this is sold anymore but the one in this set is very similar. I didn’t use this brush for years but recently I have been putting eye shadow on my lower lash line and every brush I tried just wasn’t do the right job. I wanted it to be precise I didn’t want to look like I had just been punched in the face. In walks this brush, I tried it one day and now I am in love. I use it near enough every day. My mum also has this brush and she have never used it so I now have two of these babies to alternate with. It’s such a good brush when it comes to detailing, so I supposed it can be used to multiple things. I’m sure there are a few of you out there that have this brush sitting unused, well here is your chance to whip it out – trust me life saver!

MAC – 221S Brush see here

Now this is a brush that I have mentioned a few times on my blog. You know the 217 brush that EVERYONE has – was you like me and a little disappointed by what it had to offer? I mean for a blending brush it’s alright but I have a lot cheaper brushes that do the same thing. Last summer I was lucky enough to have my make up done by a MAC MUA and she introduced me to this brush and to be honest I have never looked back. This is the perfect crease brush, in softness, size, blending power EVERYTHING. I honestly don’t know how I did my make up previously without this brush.

My only annoyance is that it is pretty pricey for a brush in my opinion, however I say that but I have recently picked up a second because I was scared to loose it. I mean some say a fool and their money are soon parted. I just say I know what I like and sometimes you just need to invest! Sometimes certain brushes are worth the investment and for me this is a massive winner on that front. Do I think all MAC brushes are worth their price tag, no. But this one I can’t just about justify.

Real Techniques – Cheek Brush

Sadly this was part of a limited edition collection which is no longer sold, I’m sorry! If you are after an alternative I would suggest the Spectrum C07 Luxe Tapered Sculptor Moving onto this baby, to be honest I have had this for years and always think this is the perfect brush when it comes to applying blusher. it is the perfect size for the apple of my cheeks and every blusher just seems to work well with the brush. It also is the perfect density so you never have to much on your brush and you look like a tomato which is great when you are heavy handed like me!

Let me know if you have used any of these tools before and what your thoughts are on them. What are your favourite brushes to use? I’m always open to welcome more brushes into my life!

Review – Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Lipstick

Hello my lovelies,

I’m back with another review, I love writing reviews mainly because I try so many products that it is nice to share with like minded people what I think of them. I read a lot of reviews especially when I am sat on the fence about a product and not sure whether I should invest my money. I will say though, this is my opinion and different products work for different people so don’t take this a gospel.

Now anyone that knows me, knows that I adore lipstick. In recent years it has been liquid lipstick but I will not apply make up without putting something on my lips. 97% of the time it’s matte because that’s what I prefer, personal preference. As I am a bit of a lipstick junkie I do try an awful lot of liquid lipsticks, some have been great and some have been god damn awful.

In walk these babies that are a relatively new product with Maybelline. I saw their range and thought do you know what let’s give them a try. Their shade range for a fairly new launch was pretty extensive which I was really impressed by. I was trying to pick a shade that I don’t really have in my collection which is pretty tough because I have so many. I decided to go for shade 95 Visionary and 15 Lover.

I really like the packaging, I know it’s about the product but its nice to appreciate what they look like because I am a complete sucker for packaging. I love that you can clearly see what colour it is rather than having to open it up. It’s a lot easier when you are searching through your collection finding a shade!

In the picture above for reference the top colour is 15 Lover and the bottom is 95 Visionary.

So onto the actual lipsticks. Now it has a doe-foot applicator which I love but it is a slightly different shape. It’s pointed at the end which is perfect for creating the precise line going around your lips – it makes life a lot easier. It also has in the middle of the applicator a hole. I’m really not sure what this adds to the application but it doesn’t hinder application in fact it’s quite a joy to apply.

These dry pretty quickly into place which I love because I’m not about fanning my lips for them to dry – it’s why I don’t paint my nails I just don’t have the patience. They go into a complete matte finish as the name suggests almost instantly. Something that really gives this formula extra points is that I never have lipstick marks around my cups. It literally stays in place all day even with a lot of eating and drinking.

This whole Super Stay business really is true I have never known a formula to stay this long. So much so that when I have been a little naughty and not removed my makeup from an evening out I wake up in the morning and to be honest it looks like I have just applied it. It’s perfect for when you are on the go and don’t have time to constantly top up your lipstick which really is the story of my life at the moment.

Now, my only annoyance is to do with the longevity of the lipstick. So it stays all day – great. But the struggle of removing this is unreal. I have used all my cleansers and potions to remove this and my god do you have to scrub. My lips hurt after I remove it I mean when I remove the purple lipstick if it isn’t all removed I look like I have bruises all round my lips. Not the greatest look!

Because I loved these so much I gifted one to my best friend as she is a complete liquid lipstick lover like me. She also had the same issue with removal – so I think there is a little issue here. I mean I have some amazing cleansers in my collection and seriously none of them remove it with ease – so a little word of warning there.

If you can see past the trickiness of removing the lipstick then actually this is the best formula of liquid lipstick on the market in my opinion. I am so impressed by them and for £9.99 it’s really a no brainer. I flipping love this lipstick and the shades I have I absolutely adore. For Maybelline to bring something out like this and blow out the likes of Rimmel, Kat Von D etc. I’m just in awe.

I will be buying so many more of these shades I just know it – although I think I need advice on how to remove it because it really is the only drawback that I have found. I wear these so often I just can’t get enough, until that is when I come to remove it and I get annoyed that I’m going to have to spend ages scrubbing my lips.

IMATS Haul 2018

Hello my lovelies,

So this post is long overdue, this make up has been sitting in my room for a little while now and I finally have the time to write this post so I can get using the goodies I have brought. If you don’t know IMATS is a international make up artist trade show which travels over the world and comes to London once a year. It is a great day out by getting discounts from your favourite brands as well as finding new brands. You can also watch make up artists in action as well as talks from well known people within the make up industry.

This is my 5th year in going and for me is a massive date in my diary. This year I went with my older sister and one of my close friends who loves make up & beauty nearly as much as I do. I did go into this knowing roughly what I wanted to pick up but then I did get swayed by a lot also, I just can’t help it I’m an addict! We had such a lovely day and after the trade show we ventured to Westfield and sipped cocktails in the sunshine as well as doing a little more shopping, whoops..

If you want to see what I brought last year from IMATS see here

MAC

Skin Base Visage see here

I have wanted this for quite some time, I have received so many testers of this and never got round to buying the full size version so IMATS was the time to finally make the purchase. MAC had 25% off their products which I obviously couldn’t refuse. This is a primer that is extremely lightweight and works amazingly with pretty much any foundation. I’m so happy that this is now back in my life.

Prep & Prime, Fix + see here

I honestly don’t know how I have never picked this up before. I have always wanted to try this out but always told myself I shouldn’t buy it. This was a purchase that I wasn’t expecting to make but with the discount I thought this was the perfect time to add it to my collection. Let’s hope it lives up to the all the amazing reviews I have heard about it.

221S Brush see here

This brush was 100% on my list, I already own one of these babies and I knew I needed another one because I use it every single day. Now I know this is pretty pricey for a small brush but it is totally worth it and to be honest I don’t think I could live without it. For me, this is the perfect crease brush, I found the 217 waaaay to big for my eyes and this is just perfect. Seriously pick it up and try it out for yourself because I couldn’t create an eye look without this baby now, life changing!

Revolution/Revolution Pro

Regeneration – Revelation Eyeshadow Palette see here

One thing I said to myself is that I didn’t need any more eyeshadow palettes but here I am talking about one I brought, whoops.. I want to branch a little with some bright pinks which this really does have and to be honest I got sucked into it because of the glitter shades. I’m really looking forward to experimenting with this palette and for me Revolution are pretty good when it comes to the formula of their eye shadows.

Regeneration – Goldmine Eyeshadow Palette see here

I know, another eyeshadow palette! This one I did see first and I just fell in love with the orange tones of the palette. I am really loving an orange eye and although this isn’t for everyone I am totally rocking it with no shame. I always think if you are wanting to experiment with different colours buy an affordable palette like Revolution and then if you get on with the colour you can always invest in other palettes. I can’t wait to start creating looks with this little baby!

4K Highlighter Palette – Rose Gold see here

I’m a sucker for a highlighter palette and to be honest I didn’t even look at it. My sister just came across and said she was buying one and I was like yea I’ll get one to. Luckily she has good taste and I trust her opinion. These shades are completely up my street and to be honest I haven’t brought highlighter in a while and I thought this would be a perfect addition to my collection.

Supreme Matte Finishing Spray see here

I was running a little light on the amount of finishing sprays I have so I thought rather than buy one lets buy two different ones. I always try and go for a matte finishing spray as that’s the look I prefer especially with my oily complexion. I have tried a Revolution one before which I have just run of, I did actually mention this in my last Empties Post so I thought yeah lets buy another one!

Fast Base Foundation Stick in F6 see here

So lets all be honest this little baby is everywhere in the beauty world and I have tried to get my hands on this for the longest time and they have never had my shade in stock. I finally found my shade and I cannot wait to get using this little baby. I have heard so many things about this product and I also had a good recommendation from my older sister so to me it was a no brainer to try out. I’m sure I will be reporting back on my thoughts of this!

Conceal & Define Concealer in C7 and C3 see here

Yes I also found shades in these babies, I think these have to be my favourite purchase of the weekend because I have been wanting to get hold of these for the longest time. I brought two shades in the end C7 for concealing and C3 for my under eyes as a little brightener. I have been wanting to try these out ever since I brought them and I finally can. I have heard nothing but good things about these so I can’t wait to have perfect skin!

Urban Decay

All Nighter Foundation 2.0 see here

This is a product I knew I wanted to get and I had already been colour matched prior to the event so I knew exactly what I wanted. I cannot wait to try this, again another product I have heard so much about and I cannot wait to try this out. I hope it lives up to my expectations. I haven’t ever actually tried an Urban Decay foundation before but I am completely won over by the packaging – I mean who wouldn’t be!?

Naked Skin Concealer in Light Warm see here

Again another product that I knew I wanted to pick up, I was tempted to buy the All Nighter Concealer but thought that would be a bit too heavy so I thought this would be the perfect pairing with the All Nighter foundation. Seriously, I don’t think I’m going to need any base products anytime soon I’m completely stocked up!

Kat Von D – Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Requiem see here

My only liquid lipstick purchase of the haul – be proud! I have two of these in my collection already and I thought it was about time I added another one to my collection. This is something a little bit different to my collection but I thought it was time to mix it up a little. It’s a beautiful purple/pink colour which I think is going to look amazing in the summer months. I mean I’m definitely going to rock it whether people like it or not. I love the shade range that Kat Von D have as they have some really out there shades and to be honest I wish it was acceptable to wear them because I totally would.

OPV – Eyeshadow Palette in Gorgeous II see here

So I brought this on a complete whim but I was just drawn in by the colours and to be honest the pigmentation is insane. This reminded me so much of a Morphe Palette I own but a lot better quality to be honest. I cannot wait to get trying these shades and I just hope the pigmentation is transferred onto my lids. I have never heard of this brand before but I have just realised they are stocked on Beauty Bay so if I like this I may have to explore what else they have to offer.

Nip+Fab – Viper Venom Micro Blue Fix see here

This is my favourite primer and I am running low on the one I currently have and I just knew I needed to buy another. I didn’t actually buy this at IMATS I went to Superdrug after and brought this but I thought it was worthwhile putting this in here. I think this is being discontinued and I am actually gutted, this is amazing and I am obsessed with it. If you prefer silicone based primers then you need to try this. It transforms my skin and works with every single foundation I own. I think I am going to need to buy a few more so I can carry on using this!

That’s all folks, congratulations to you if you made it to the end. It was pretty lengthy! So pleased this is written because now I can start enjoying these products! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them. Also if you have been to IMATS or would like to know a little more information about it let me know and I will answer your questions.

May Favourites

Hello my lovelies,

Another month has gone so quick, seriously how are we nearly half way through the year already? May has been such a busy month for me with my boyfriend dislocating his shoulder and having an operation on top of that so I was full time acting as his nurse! The hot weather was amazing though – me and my puppy was having such a great time in the paddling pool I brought. I also attended IMATS with my sister and my best friend which as always was amazing, I spent way to much money but it only comes around once a year. Do keep your eye out for an upcoming IMATS Haul!

This month because I have been so busy, I have ended up sticking to the same things but these little babies I have been using have really shone out. It is all makeup based this month so if you are a skincare lover this one may not be for you.

Maybelline – Fit Me Foundation in 110 Porcelain see here

I actually picked this up pretty recently which you may have seen in my recent Boots & TK Maxx Haul I was in desperate need of falling in love with a drug store foundation and I may have just found it. It applies like a dream and although looking at the colour it looks pretty pale for me, it actually colour matches really well. I don’t want to go into too much detail as I will be doing a full review on this pretty soon. All I would say is, if you have oily prone skin or are looking for a matte foundation then this may be worth trying out.

Charlotte Tilbury – Hollywood Lips in Show Girl see here

Anyone that knows me, knows that I adore liquid lipstick I am a complete sucker for it. To be honest I thought I had lost this one, whoops! I found it in my handbag at the start of this month and because I couldn’t find it for so long I knew I had to get wearing it. Although it’s not really a spring colour, I love it. It’s a berry colour but not too deep so completely wearable on a daily basis. It’s so comfortable on the lips and to be honest I am a sucker for anything Charlotte Tilbury. Would I pay £24 for another one.. probably not unless I came into some money and I wanted to treat myself. If you have the money for one then I would strongly recommend trying it out the shade range is beautiful!

Huda Beauty – Desert Dusk Palette see here

I have very recently written a full review on my thoughts of this palette here but a little side note before you read it.. I blooming love it. If you have read my review then you will know that I very nearly just gave this away because it wasn’t being used. Thank god I kept it because I can’t stop using it. I have a look that I create on a daily basis and I just love the look and nothing else seems to come close to it. From the picture it looks like I have barely used this but trust me I have used this pretty much every day this month. In my eyes it is well worth the investment, if you are on the fence about this my advice is to buy it. You won’t regret it I promise.

Maybelline – Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Light see here

Another recent-ish addition to my collection and as you can see I have used this quite a bit. This however I picked up from Superdrug and to be honest it is perfect for my under eye area. Although I don’t have the brightening one, I don’t think I need it. This does the job and is the perfect colour for me. My only annoyance and I am sure I am not the only one on this is the applicator and how messy it gets – seriously! I also think it’s a little overpriced for what it is especially for the drugstore but it is a great product and I know it is so well loved and now I’m hooked too!

Sephora Lip Cream in Marvellous Move see here

This along with my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick is the only thing that has been on my lips this month. I absolutely adore the formula of this and the colour. I mean this is seriously one of the best liquid lipsticks I have ever come across. My favourite at present is the Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks but if they aren’t in your budget then this comes a very close second for me. I can’t wait to go to New York in September mainly so I can go into Sephora and buy more of these shades. I mean the shade range is incredible I didn’t realise they had so many and they are constantly adding new shades to the range. This is my go to spring lip colour – I LOVE IT!

Tarte – Maneater Mascara see here

Last but by no means least, this mascara. I brought this last month as I picked a gift up for my sister as it was here birthday and I thought it would be rude not to treat myself. I was a little sceptical about trying this mascara as I head over heels fell in love with Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara and didn’t think I would love anything else. But oh boy was I proved wrong. I don’t think it is better than Lights, Camera, Lashes as they do different things, I love them equally. The only thing I need to get used to is how big the brush/applicator is – it’s pretty overwhelming when you first try to apply the mascara! This gives amazing volume and I am left with no flaky bits on the face throughout the day. I mean I knew everyone loved the Tarte mascaras but didn’t understand why – but now I do and I am completely obsessed, I am sure I will own all of them at some point..

& just like that my May Favourites are done. Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them.

Tarte Haul

Hello my lovelies,

Yes I am back with yet another haul, but this one I assure you was a good deal. Tarte is a brand that I really want to try out more I have two of their mascaras (Lights, Camera, Lashes and Maneater) along with the Tarte Toasted Eyeshadow Palette and I absolutely adore them. When I had an email from Tarte informing me that I could get 6 of their products AND a make up bag for £56 it was a complete no brainer. Annoyingly with this offer the shipping was pretty slow but I’m so flipping excited I now don’t care.

Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Blushing Bride see here

I have been wanting to get my hands on one of their blushes for the longest time. I mean their shade range is incredible. I haven’t treated myself to a new blush for a long time so I thought that this was the perfect time to do so. The packaging is a little basic but as they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover. It is described as a ‘rosy pink’ and to be honest it is just that. I am hoping it will give me a natural look colour to my cheeks, I will just have to see if it lives up to my expectations.

Tarteist Lip Paint it Front Row see here

Now I couldn’t not pick a matte liquid lipstick up could I? To be honest this was the hardest to choose because I didn’t realise they had SO many colours. I was trying to look for a shade that I don’t really have in my collection, which is actually harder than you think. I haven’t actually heard too much about these so I am unsure on what to expect I’m sure I’ll be letting you know in coming posts whether it lives up to my standards or not!

Tarte – Sex Kitten Eyeliner see here

I’m going to be honest and I’ll say I am a little bit disappointed with this product. However it’s not Tarte’s fault. I thought I chose the liquid liner version but instead I chose the normal liner. I am a liquid liner girl through and through and I have never found a product that deters me away. Maybe I just need to give this a go as it may impress me. Who knows but if I am honest 6 products for £56 and if I wasn’t a fan of one of them it really isn’t the end of the world is it.

Shape Tape Matte Foundation see here

Ok, so this was the main reason I placed the order. Lets be honest with all the press, good and bad, that has surrounded the foundations launch you can’t say you haven’t been interested in trying it out for yourself. My only annoyance is that I obviously couldn’t colour match myself so I am hoping that it works other this would of been a complete waste of money. I went for the matte foundation as this is what works with my skin best and I do have issues with oil control. Don’t you worry I will be testing this out ASAP and get back to you with a review so keep your eyes peeled!

Rainforest of The Sea Aqua Concealer in Fair Light see here

This is another product I have been wanting to try for a very long time. I don’t think the shape tape concealer was available on this offer but actually I’m really excited to try this one. First off the packaging is beautiful and the whole rain forest range when it was first released I was really impressed by the branding. I wanted a concealer that wasn’t so heavy on my skin and this ticked all the right boxes. It is a serum based concealer which conceals and radiates – what more could you want for your under eye area!?

Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara see here

Their mascaras as a whole are heavily talked about in the beauty world and this one was next to try on my list. I love all the different packaging of their mascaras and I know this is so well loved in the community. It feels awfully chunky which I think I will have to get used to but I am sure I will make it work for me. I just hope that I love it as much as the other two mascaras I own from Tarte.

Mermaid Make Up Bag

So I have had a look on the website and I can’t see that this is available – I’m not sure whether this was exclusive to deal that they had or it has sold out but I am obsessed. I do love the whole mermaid vibe and this is perfect. I must say my make up hasn’t fitted in a bag for some years but I find that these are perfect for travelling. Seriously who wouldn’t want their make up sitting in this, I am sure I will get a lot of use out of this in the months to come.

What a great deal? I would strongly recommend taking advantage of the offer if it ever comes around again it’s a great way to try out products that they offer for a fraction of the price. The total price of these products stand alone is £139 so you save yourself a whopping £83 – a complete bargain in my eyes. Let me know what other products I should have a look at next from Tarte and keep your eyes peeled for some reviews on these products!
