Current Beauty Favourites

Hello my lovelies,

So normally, I would do this monthly but as I had a little break I thought it would be worth rounding up my current favourites over the last few months and then I can get back into monthly favourites. So much has gone on in the past few months and how in the world are we now in October!? The months are going quicker and quicker  – the countdown to Christmas is well and truly on for me!

Estee Lauder – Bronze Goddess Powder in 03 Medium Deep see here

I brought this for myself over the summer, I had wanted this for a long time and I thought why the hell not treat myself! It’s pretty pricey but it’s such a lovely bronzer. It has such a big pan so you can swish your brush around like no mans business. It’s near enough matte which I much prefer, there are a few specs of glitters that catch my eye but nothing major I promise. I’m still using it even in the colder months I just love it. It’s the perfect colour for me – this I think is the nicest bronzer I have ever used and in my opinion well worth the investment!

Clinique – Take The Day Off Balm see here

I have had this collection for a little while and I wanted to spruce my cleansing routine up so I decided a balm was the way to go. This stuff is magical, it really does take everything off my face and I never feel like I have to double cleanse which is a winner in my book! What gives this cleanser a gold star is that it’s a miracle worker at getting the most toughest mascara off my lashes. There is nothing that this stuff can’t handle! I didn’t think I would love a balm as much as I do this once but I’m coming to the end of this and thinking I really need to pick another one of these up.. I’m converted!

Benefit – Precisely My Brow Pencil in Shade 4 see here

So if you have read my last post here or have read my blog for a while then you know I adore this product. For a long time I used this mainly for filling in the front of my brows only which worked wonders. However I wasn’t happy with the look of the rest of my brows so I decided to to use this baby all over and my oh my it’s a game changer. My eyebrows look so much better and I take a lot less time in the mornings getting ready. I just find it so easy to use and the pigmentation is amazing. Light hands is the way forward but really I struggle to go wrong with this pencil! Plus I do love this snazzy packaging people may think it’s a little OTT but for me it’s a winner.

MAC – Prep & Prime Fix+ see here

I don’t know how this has only come into my life this year. I picked this up at IMATS  and even then I was sceptical as to whether I would use it. I don’t really use setting sprays but I thought because so many people love this that I would give it a go. I just can’t stop using it. I spritz this every time I apply make up. It makes my face look a little less flat and matte but not so much that I look like an oily mess. I really feel like my make up lasts so much longer because of this. I am now sold with this and I am sure this will now be a staple item in my make up collection!

Rimmel – Lasting Finish Foundation in 200 Soft Beige see here

This is my new favourite drug store foundation. I had this in my collection for a while and rarely used it – not sure why. I then gave it a good go and used it for a couple of days and I just fell in love. Annoyingly when I fell in love with it, it was then empty and I had no idea so I had to rush out and buy another. I actually mentioned this little baby in my recent Empties Post. I just find that this is so easy to apply and I never have any issues with applications or the longevity of this. This is a little different for me as I am very much a matte foundation girl and this is more on the dewy finish. I have made it work for me though and I just powder, I just love the finish it gives. Seriously if you haven’t tried this foundation out you need to give it a go!

Too Faced – Melted Matte Lipstick in Queen B see here

I’m not really a pink lipped sort of girl and when I brought this last year I was like come on Alice lets be brave and try something new. It’s a beautiful pink/mauve shade and is something so different to anything I own. I have gone through phases or wearing this and at the moment I am obsessed and have been for a good solid couple of months now this is pretty much all I wear. It’s so comfortable on the lips and lasts a fairly long time, I keep meaning to pick up more colours of this as I really enjoy the formula. I also am in love with the name. Obviously I feel like a queen b whilst wearing this!

Huda Beauty – Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette see here

I really am obsessed with the palette. No doubt about it. It’s pretty much the only eye shadow I have been wearing for about 3 months now and it still looks like I haven’t really made a dent in the colours. Hands down this is well worth the investment because the pigmentation and the formula of these are incredible. I constantly wear these shades and although they look pretty crazy colours they are actually so wearable. I need to give my other palettes a bit of a chance but I can’t seem to put this one down. I have written a full review of this here if you would like a little bit more info.

Chanel – Natural Finished Pressed Powder in Translucent see here

So I’m not normally one to use expensive powders as personally I don’t think there is any need to. However I was gifted this a little while ago by my boyfriend and to be honest I was too scared to use it. Recently I was like, come on it needs to be used no matter what the price tag was. I’m sure I’m not the only one that uses more expensive make up for special occasions! I’m so glad I got using this because my oh my it’s pretty special. It’s so light on the face and never feels cakey. It sets my make up in place and I can’t tell you how good my skin looks. Effortlessly as well. I honestly think when I use this up I may have to repurchase another one. Sorry Rimmel I think I have found a new powder!

Let me know what your favourite products are at the moment and whether you have tried any of the products I have mentioned!

Empties #17

Hello my lovelies,

Another empties post, although I haven’t done one of these for a while I know another one will be coming very soon. I can go a week or so without using anything up and then all of a sudden I finish everything at once. As I have quite a few products in my basket I thought I’d ensure there is a mix of products in each post just so there is something for everyone.

Benefit – Precisely my Brow Pencil in Shade 4 see here

So if you have read my blog for a while you will know that I LOVE this brow pencil, I am obsessed. I mentioned it in my Top 3 Eyebrow Products and it is still there grabbing the top spot. Up until recently though I used this mainly to finish off my brows and ensure that the shape was right, now I use it for my whole brow with the use of no other products and I have fallen in love with it even more – I didn’t know this was even possible. It creates such a natural brow and I love the finish. I did mention in my recent Sephora Haul that I will be comparing the ABH Brow Whiz as I now have both so watch out for that!

Obviously I have already purchased this and to be honest I have gone through so many I don’t see myself stopping buying anything else anytime soon. Benefit’s brow range really is great, if you are unsure on what to go for, head to your local Benefit and they are more than happy to test the products out on you and find the right one for you.

Too Faced – Better than Sex Mascara see here

So, a lot of people love this and I mean really praise that it is an amazing mascara. It took me a long time to finally accept that I needed to try it out and I was lucky enough to receive two at once for my birthday last year. Now, don’t get me wrong it’s a good mascara but was I wowed by it? No. It gives volume and my lashes look nice but I find this very flaky and it is rather annoying. I think there are better mascaras out there that are around the same price point or actually lower. If you still want to try it, I would suggest buying a mini version to make sure you like it.

I still have another one of these to get through but it’s just not something I reach for very often. I just have better mascaras in my collection which I much prefer. I’m sorry to all you fans out there of this mascara but it just isn’t my favourite. I don’t think after I have got through my next tube I will be repurchasing.

Gariner – Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub see here

At first, I didn’t think was my cup of tea. I like a scrub that is fairly thick, I just feel like it works with my skin better and also my skin can take it. However, I persevered because the scent is amazing. It is this beautiful orange citrus scent that really does make me want to use this. I’m so glad I carried on because I really enjoyed this and I think my skin did too. Although the scrub in finer it still works wonders on the skin and I feel like my skin looks a whole load brighter after using this.

By the end I was gutted that it was all gone as I would happily continue using it. I have a lot of exfoliators/scrubs in my collection so I will use some of those up first but I will keep an eye out for it when I’m shopping for a new exfoliator.

Rimmel – Lasting Finish Foundation in 200 Soft Beige see here

I think, currently this is one of my favourite drug store foundations. I was so annoyed as I went to use this and realised it has pretty much run out. I very quickly repurchased this as I just find if my skin is not playing ball I can pop this foundation on and I feel a lot more presentable to the world. This is different to a lot of my foundations with it not being matte. I am more oily than anything else but I don’t have any problems with this at all. The longevity of this is incredible and although I have tested the whole 25 hour claim I would say a solid 14 hours and it’s still battling on.

It has been a massive saviour in the summer with SPF 20 in it, it’s just one less layer of cream on my face and it has saved me I’m sure when it comes to not burning my face. I don’t see this foundation being talked about an awful lot in the blogging community but for me I flipping love it. Whether you have dry, normal or combination skin I think you can happily makes this work.

Lush – Snow Fairy Shower Gel see here

You may be thinking, hun this has only just been released again. Yes I know, but I stock up around Christmas time so I can use this all year round. I love it too much to just appreciate it for only a couple months of the year. It is a little pricey for a shower gel but it is so worth it. If you are into your sweeter scents then this right up your street. If you have never tired it though, seriously where have you been!? I won’t delve into my love for this too much because I could write pages and pages, yes I am addicted.

I believe I still have another bottle in my stocks to use but I am sure I will be stocking up now I know it has been released again and of course it will be going on my Christmas list so if you want to get me something this right here makes my life complete!

Herbal Essences – Hello Hydration Conditioner see here

I am a big lover of Herbal Essences. I have tired a lot of their different ranges and there aren’t many I don’t like. This I would say is my favourite as dry ends is something I really struggle with. It helps that it’s cheap and cheerful but it really is good for the price point. I notice the difference when I change to a different brand, my hair just doesn’t seem the same. I recently had a hair cut – I hadn’t had once for over a year, I know it’s bad. But with the hair cut and using this my hair is in great condition!

I have a few conditioners to use in my collection before I go out and buy something new but I always go back to this especially when it’s on offer which it quite often is, I just can’t refuse.

MAC – Velvet Teddy Lipstick see here

Sorry, how in the world did did these lipsticks creep up to £17.50!? If you are going to buy a lipstick MAC is the place to go however, wow they are getting expensive. This is a proud moment for me because this is the first lipstick I have EVER finished. I knew it was going to be this because the shade is just great. This is the shade that set off my love affair with brown toned lips, I barely wear anything other than brown now. This is a great lipstick and if you are still on the fence about it I would totally put it on your wish-list. Especially with a lip liner underneath it’s just a beautiful shade.

This the one product I will be keeping hold of for my back-to-MAC I just need one more product to then be able to pick up a free eye shadow or lipstick. If I am honest I think I will just get this little baby because I really miss it in my collection but I’m not convinced I want to pay £17.50 for it!

Nip + Fab Viper Venom Micro Blur Fix see here

Again if you have read any primer related posts from me you will know that this is currently my favourite primer, and to be honest I don’t see that changing any time soon. If you prefer a more silicone based primer then this is worth giving a go. I find that for my oily skin this works wonders and I am never left disappointed by it. You only need a little bit on your face and I really notice the difference when I don’t wear this. I have actually written a full review on this here so if you want to know more than this may help.

Of course I have already repurchased this and I will continue to for the foreseeable future. TK MAXX is a good place to pick up nip + fab a little cheaper than the drug store. Having said that drug stores always have offers on with nip + fab or 3 for 2 so it’s definitely worth looking into.

Primark – PS Oval Cotton Pads

Of course these are in here, they make an appearance near enough every empties post. These cotton pads really are the only ones I will use and I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Every time I pop into Primark I am always stocking up on these babies I mean for 90p you really can’t go wrong. They are a lot more durable than a lot of other cotton pads on the market. Seriously try them out for yourselves you won’t be disappointed!

Batiste – Dry Shampoo in Cherry see here

Last but by no means least, another regular empties product the holy grail hair product my dry shampoo. I honestly don’t know how I coped before using dry shampoo and in particular Batiste. It’s just incredible and to be honest I don’t need to try another dry shampoo because I know that this does the job. I can’t  just have one of these in my draws I always have to have another one as a back up in case I run out. What’s your favourite scent as I feel I just use the same two!

Congratulations if you made it to the end of the post! I didn’t realise how long this will be, but you all earn yourself a gold star. Let me know if you have tired any of these products and what your thoughts are on them. I’d love to know!

Sephora Haul

Hello lovelies,

It’s been a while since my last blog post & I do apologise, it’s been a very hectic couple of months! I did pop over to the magical city of New York and obviously I couldn’t not spend hours on end in Sephora without showing you guys. I cannot tell you how much a Sephora in the UK would make a difference to my life. The experience is so much better than a drug or department store let me tell you! I was restrained-ish, but I just wanted to buy EVERYTHING, seriously it’s all so inviting. The team of Sephora know how to lay out a shop!

Sephora – Bronzing Face Powder in Medium, 3

I’m sorry I can’t seem to find a link to it on the Sephora website but I promise you it’s about.  I feel like Sephora own products are not talked about an awful lot on social media and maybe there is a reason for that but I want to try it for myself and I haven’t treated myself to a bronzer in a while so I thought why the hell not! It’s a matte finish which I much prefer, to be honest it doesn’t look wowing but the proof is in the finish! I’m sure I’ll let you know what I think and whether I have found a hidden gem.

Tarte – Creaseless Concealer in 20N Light see here

Before I went into Sephora, I had no idea whether to get Tarte’s Shape Tape or Creaseless Concealer. In the end I went for the creaseless as I have the shape tape foundation and don’t like it although everyone loves the concealer I just am a little scarred from the foundation. I love the packaging on this and the variance of colours was incredible. I’m so glad I waited to swatch these in person rather than risk it online as I found my perfect shade. I cannot wait to get using this!

Tarte – Gifted Mascara see here

This is a repurchase for me, I have one of these babies already which I brought on a bit of a whim. I fell in love with the Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara and wanted to see what else Tarte could offer. This, for me is now my all time favourite mascara. It is amazing, it lengthens as well as able to create the right amount of volume. There is no panda eyes and no flakiness. To remove it is a dream unlike so mascaras I own and I just feel that I can always rely on this baby. Seriously Tarte mascaras are amazing and if you have never tired them to try them I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Tarte – Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara see here

Whilst I’m talking about Tarte mascaras, yes I picked up another one. Again I love this mascara and I just thought well it’s slightly cheaper than what I can buy it for online – why the hell not! This is the first Tarte mascara I brought and I have been converted ever since. So much so I brought another, limited edition may I add and I was so excited that I gave it to a friend because she just had to try it – obviously she fell in love just like me. They are such reliable mascaras and I love all the limited edition packaging I do it just makes me want to buy them all!

Huda Beauty – Warm Brown Obsessions Palette see here

I have been wanting one of these little babies ever since they came out but I couldn’t make a decision of what one I wanted. I’m so glad that I was able to see them in real life as pictures can be deceiving sometimes! I chose warm brown in the end as I thought it would be the most wearable for me.  I have high hopes for this as I love the dessert dusk palette which I have reviewed here. The palette itself is a lot smaller in real life let me tell you! I absolutely love the shades though and I cannot wait to report back on how I get on.

Anastasia Beverley Hills – Brow Wiz in Warm Brown see here

Now, I know to a lot of people this will be shocking but I have never tried this product before. I have recommended it to people as I know so many people love it but I have never brought it myself until now. I have been a Benefit eyebrow girl for the longest time and I actually went into Sephora to pick up a new Precisely, my brow pencil but they didn’t have my shade. I’d run out so I needed to pick up something so I decided that the time was now upon me to try it. I will be doing a comparison between the two as I have actually brought the Benefit pencil since I have been back so keep your eyes peeled!

Sephora Lip Cream

This looks a hell of a lot darker than it is in person. For me this is the perfect brown nude. I have been on the hunt for something like this for the longest time as I am lucky enough to be a bridesmaid for two upcoming weddings and I needed a nude lipstick that would work with the dresses. I am hoping this could be the one. I have a few from the range and I think that they are the best affordable liquid lipsticks around, no questions. They are so comfortable and long wearing and just look amazing on the lips. The shade range is pretty impressive so I am glad that I went in with a rough colour in mind rather than be overwhelmed with the colours!

Urban Decay – Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette see here

I didn’t think I would pick this baby up but when I saw it in Sephora I just couldn’t put it down. I love Urban Decay & their eye shadows and I haven’t brought a palette from them in a long time and I thought now was the time. I love all the different colours in the palette and I really hope I am one day confident enough to try them. The packaging is gorgeous I feel like Urban Decay have really upped their game with this release. I cannot wait to get experimenting!

Benefit – Bad Gal Bang Mascara see here

Whilst I was in Sephora I signed up to their rewards scheme as I had spent so much money I was able to pick up this little baby for free. I have wanted to try this for a while but not fork out the price tag to be left with a mascara I didn’t like. It has been widely reviewed and to be honest it’s been very mixed. When it comes to mascara I feel like everyone forgets that everyone’s lashes are different and people prefer different wands/texture etc. With that being said I love that you can now buy these mini’s so if you don’t like it you haven’t spent as much. In the past, for me Benefit mascaras haven’t wowed me – but who knows this may change things.

Fenty Beauty – Pro Filter Primer in Soft Matte see here

Fenty Beauty.. I’m not sure if I ever got excited for this brand being launched. I’m not sure why I guess I am wary of celebrities bringing out things and thinking they are experts. I know the foundation has had very good reviews but I wasn’t sold enough to pick my shade up. However, again I had enough points and I decided to try out the primer. For me, primers are important and I love trying new ones out. The packaging really is lovely and I’m actually pretty excited to try this baby out. I’m sure I’ll let you know my thoughts when I start trying it out.

Bite – Lip Gift Set from Sephora

I can’t find this anywhere online, but I think this is because it’s a birthday gift. Although my birthday was in July and I went to New York in September they were able to give me my birthday gift – AMAZING. I have heard so much about BITE that I thought this was a great chance to see the different lip products they have to offer. You receive a: agave lip balm, lip crayon in Glace and a lipstick in Chai. I love the colours, normally for me the colours are never my bag with a freebie but I am impressed and can’t wait to try them out. Let’s see what these babies have to offer!

That’s all folks! I did pick up more items but they are for gifts for other people so I can’t share these with you. I am so happy with my purchases and although you can pick most of these products up in the UK they are only available online. I much prefer getting to feel a product and see the colour through my own eyes as pictures are not always accurate. Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them!

Review – Collection #BlushAndGlow

Hello my lovelies,

So I don’t know about you but I actually find it really hard to find good palettes from the drug store. Apart from the likes of Make Up Revolution, I don’t feel like there are other brands that can amaze with a palette. Especially when it comes to face powders. There are so many when it comes to luxury brands but not so much further down the price points. I found this Collection palette and thought I owed it to myself to see whether it can be comparable or if not better than some more luxury palettes that I own.

Collection for me, is a brand I have loved for a long time. I don’t buy an awful lot from them but the likes of their lasting perfection concealer and their primer are cult products in my collection. I have never really brought any face powders from them of any description before so I thought let’s give this a go. For £4.99 for 4 powders is a little bit of a no brainer for me.

It comes with a Highlighter, Contour and 2 blush shades which actually all look really nice. I was most intrigued about the contour shade as for me to find a cheaper alternative to my most loved contour product, Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer would be a real winner for me.

The packaging is a little basic for me and easily gets dirty as it’s just cardboard with a clear piece of plastic in the middle. I do like that you can see the shades but it does get a little messy and I am forever trying to keep this looking acceptable. Anyway, all the powders are really creamy. I find that they blend really nice into the skin and with the other products that are on my face. I never feel as though they look cakey and to be honest Collection have found the perfect formula when it comes to pigmentation.

From the picture above the furthest shade away is the contour shade, which is matte. The next one in is the highlighter, which for me is a little too subtle for me but has a lovely glow. The next two are the blushes, as you can see one is more on the coral tone of blushes whereas the closest on in the picture is more of a true pink to me.

The contour shade was the biggest thing for me in this palette I wanted to find something that was a much cheaper alternative to Benefit’s Hoola. I think, in this little baby I may of found it. The colours of the two are near enough the same and the way this applies onto the skin is a dream. It never becomes cakey or looks un-natural. I never really have to try to hard to make this product look good as it does it by itself. I have been using it an awful lot recently and to be honest there is no difference between them. I think I am onto a massive winner with this one!

The highlighter shade, hmm.. I mean there is nothing wrong with it. It’s just not my cup of tea. I like highlighter an awful lot and I like to put quite a bit on and I find this quite difficult to build up to get to the look I want to achieve. When I want a more natural look, which I will be honest is not very often then this will work. I’m sure there are people out there that will use this shade more than me. I would say that this is the least used product in the palette.

Next the two blushes. I love the formula of these. One little tap with a brush into these and you’re good to go on your cheeks. I just find these so easy to use. The pigmentation is great and whether you like a subtle flush of colour or want something a little more intense you will be able to achieve it. I would say I tend to go more for the coral blush, but after taking the swatches I now want to wear the more true, softer pink shade.

Overall, I really love this palette. For the price I am really impressed. The formula of these products really do rival some of my luxury products which I never thought I would be saying especially when I first picked this up. The only thing for me that let’s this quad down is the packaging. But, I suppose for the price it’s what you pay for. To be honest if they improved the packaging and maybe added a mirror then I would pay more for it. It’s worth it trust me!

If you want to read a little more information on this little gem or want to pick it up yourself see here

Let me know if you have tried this palette before and what your thoughts are on it. Also, any recommendations of affordable face palettes – send them my way!

Empties #16

Hello my lovelies,

Another month another Empties post. To be honest this time round I am pretty shocked at how hair care heavy it is considering I use very few products on my hair. Yes I am a little lazy when it comes to my hair, I pretty much wash it and then brush it and hope for the best. A lot of these are products I have never used before so I am sure it will be interesting to let you know my thoughts and whether I would pick them up again.

NYX – Matte Finish Setting Spray see here

I go through phases of using setting sprays and at the moment I am going through the phase of using them. Do I think they change my make up game? Nope. But in this humid weather it’s actually really nice to spritz this and just aid my powder in doing its job. I always go for a matte setting spray not that I buy them an awful lot. To be honest I find it hard to tell the difference in the actual product from others apart from how it is absorbs on my skin. I wouldn’t know whether to recommend this or not because I’m not convinced setting sprays in general do that much anyway. But I used it up and it’s another product gone in my collection. Probably won’t repurchase just because I have other setting sprays I am yet to try to see if they wow me or not.

Primark – Oval Cosmetic Pads

A cult classic when it comes to my empties post. I will not use another cotton pad other than these I just simply refuse. Not are they stupidly affordable at 90p for 100 pads they are the best I have ever used. I’ll happily argue this point ’till my heart is content. Annoyingly I can’t link this as Primark have still not jumped onto the online retail world however if you have never tried them then you must, honestly go to your local Primark store and pick them up you will not be disappointed.

Sephora – Supreme Cleansing Oil see here

I have fallen in love with this. This brought me into the world of cleansing oil goodness. I just love it, I am gutted that I have used it up but no fear I have another one waiting to be used. I was always worried that using an oil with oily skin that it would be a disaster but I was proven wrong. In fact I feel as though it is able to balance out my skin and I never feel oily after using this. It removes every little bit of my makeup and leaves my skin feeling amazing. If you are thinking of trying an oil cleanser then I highly recommend this one. I am next going to Sephora in September and I will be stocking up on this little baby!

Loreal – Pure Clay Detox Mask see here

I haven’t finished a pot of face mask in the longest time so I had no shame in high five-ing myself when I finished this baby. To be honest it was no surprise for me that it was this baby because I absolutely love it. In fact I love the whole range but this is by far my favourite. I really notice differences in my skin when I use this. I really do need to buy another pot of this so I am not without for to long. I have written a review on this see here  so rather than writing the same things twice go check it out.

John Freida – Frizz Ease Leave in Conditioner see here

So my hair is fine, and I have a lot of it so it’s prone to just knotting up. Conditioner alone does not fight through the tangles so I swear by de-tanglers and leave in conditioners. I have really fallen in love with this product. This is the first bottle I have used up of it and I am already missing it. I just love how my hair feels after brushing and it just makes the whole process of brushing wet hair painless and easy. Again, I have written a review on this so I will leave it here of a bit more detail. My only issue is the John Freida is a little pricey so I am waiting for this to go on offer before I pick this up again.

Batiste – Dry Shampoo in Cherry see here

Another favourite product that I absolutely adore. I go through so many of these bottles and I have no intention of swapping up my dry shampoo any time soon. It works and has saved me and my hair more times than I would like to admit. It does the job and so affordable. Sometimes it’s good to stick to what you know especially when you love it, you just know where you stand no need for disappointment then. I would say even though I use the same scents I like them all, I’m not picky I just like the look of the bottle.

Benefit – They’re Real Mascara see here

I have had this in my collection than longer than I would like to admit and to be honest I knew it was time to give this up and throw it away. For me it was more for sentimental reasons as it was one of the first ever high-end purchases I ever made because everyone and their dog loved this mascara. Did I? No, and to be honest I really have never understood the hype about it. I don’t like the brush the look of my lashes were nothing special and to be honest the worst part is that it is a bugger to remove. There are a lot better mascaras on the market and are cheaper than this. I much prefer Benefit’s Roller Lash, sorry this one just isn’t my cup of tea and I am glad this is finally gone!

Natural World – Volume & Shine Shampoo & Conditioner see here

Another lot of products I am glad to see the back of. I love the brand and how they are a natural product but did it do much for my hair? Nope. I mean for me, there was no added volume or shine in my hair after using them. In fact the only thing I noticed about these were how static my hair was. I mean it was getting a little silly by how much. I have written a full review of them here but unfortunately there were just not my cup of tea.

Maybelline – Lash Sensational Mascara see here

Another mascara! This one as you can tell have been very well loved. I have gone through quite a lot of these in my time and for a long time I did believe that this was the best drug store mascara out there. However, my mind has changed slightly as I have found some amazing L’Oreal mascaras in recent months. It’s such a reliable mascara and you know exactly what you stand. It gives both volume and length and to be honest does make your lashes look sensational. I will repurchase this little baby but I have a lot of mascaras in my collection at the moment so when I use a few more up I’m sure this will be on my repurchase list.

That’s all folks! Gold star to you if you managed to get to the end of this, it was a bit of a long one! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are on them.

Review – Botanics Softening Cleanser

Hello my lovelies,

Review time! I love my make up but I do also love to focus of skincare as I think a lot of people forget how important it really is. I feel as though sometimes it is portrayed in the beauty world that you have to spend a lot of money to have good skincare products. Recently I have been hunting the drugstore for affordable skincare products to see what is on offer who don’t have an endless supply of money.

Botanics is a brand I haven’t used until this year and funnily enough the product I originally chose from them was a cleanser. As I enjoyed it I wanted to try more things from them, yes I brought another cleanser but they are different I promise you. Botanics if you haven’t heard from them are available in Boots and focus their brand on being nature inspired and trying to be organic as possible.

This range is for all skin types and is in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens in London which again really appeals to me. I’m all for trying more natural and organic products because especially for the skin you don’t want products to be full of chemicals you want it to be as natural as possible to soothe  and aid the skin.

The packaging is pretty standard, but I just love the simplicity of this. It’s a squeezy bottle so as opposed to pump based bottles I know I can get every last drop out of this which is a massive plus for me. I hate it when you have a product with a pump and you have to give up using it because you can’t seem to get the last drop out of it. Any tips for this would be greatly appreciated!

I use this like a hot cloth cleanser so I squeeze a little onto my hand, rub it into my face and then remove with a warm wet cloth/flannel. It does say remove with tissues but I stick to what I know! It feels so lovely massaging onto the skin and doesn’t irritate my eyes at all. It does a pretty good job of removing most of the mascaras I own, the only one it struggles with is L’Oreal mascaras but I seem to have this issues with all my cleansers they are just a bugger to remove!

The smell of this is really lovely, I’m sat here smelling it and although I can’t put my finger on what it smells like it’s not overpowering just very fresh, like you are walking through pretty gardens on a summers day. I have probably described that badly but I promise it’s a really lovely scent. When I remove this from my face my skin always feels amazing and so soft. It sinks into the skin and just leaves this lovely suppleness and freshness to your skin. I think this is mainly down to the rosehip extract which is rich in omegas and essential fatty acids. It does wonders and my skin always looks great after.

For a cleanser that costs £7.99 I don’t think you can really go wrong and has made such a good impression with me. I don’t think I can find fault with it and the picky person I am that’s pretty impressive. It just shows that actually you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg on skincare to see good results. I can’t stop using this and it’s all I have been reaching for recently.

I do need to try more from Botanics, so if any of you have any recommendations please send them my way it will be greatly appreciated!

Top 3 Primers

Hello my lovelies,

So I am back with an old school post for me. When I first starting blogging back in 2016 I started a series of my Top 3 products. I really enjoyed writing them but there are only so many categories you can write about and to be honest I had other ideas and posts I wanted to write and this was forgotten about. Now, over 18 months on I thought it would be interesting to revisit the posts that I wrote and see what has stayed and what has changed.

If you would like to see my original Top 3 Primer post see here

Laura Mercier – Foundation Primer see here

This was actually in my original post and I am still absolutely loving it. I’ll be honest and admit I don’t use this every day, it’s the sort of product where it gets forgotten about for a little while and then as soon as you apply you fall in love all over again. I just can’t fault it at all. My skin always feels amazing when this is applied and every foundation loves it too. This is more of a silicone based primer which is what I probably lean towards as I find it creates a matte finish which is what I go for. I still can’t believe how expensive it is though but it’s one of the products where it’s worth those extra pennies.

Nip + Fab – Viper Venom Micro Blur Fix see here

If you have been reading my blog recently then you know I absolutely adore this primer. I have found love and I just constantly pick this one up to apply. I use this so often and the amount I have used it I’m surprised that there is still some left in the bottle. You get a lot of product for your money.

Annoyingly I think this is being discontinued which is really annoying but it is currently on sale so I would pick it up if you are interested in trying it out. I actually pick up a lot of my Nip + Fab products from TK MAXX – I’m a little bit of a bargain hunter! Again this is a more silicone/gel texture which gives more of a matte finish but is really hydrating for the skin. If you have tired the Laura Mercier foundation primer but can’t justify the price tag then it might be worth trying this baby as it’s half the price!

Loreal – Infallible Mattifying Primer  see here

Yes there is a theme here they are all mattifying and all silicone based – I can’t help what I like! This is well and truly a silicone primer and I love it. For me this is one of the best drugstore primers I have found. I use this slightly less than the other two primers I have mentioned as I whip this out when I am having a tough time with oils on my skin and I need something that is going to keep my face matte for as long as possible. I find it so easy to apply on the skin and works wonders with whatever foundation I choose to use. If you like silicone primers and haven’t tried this yet – then seriously you really need to, it’s a must in my opinion!

& there you have it! Let me know if you have tired any of these primers and how you got on with them. Also, do you have any recommendations for new primers to use – I must warn you I have a vast collection of primers but I am always up for a new addition!

Review: Tarte Shape Tape Matte Foundation

Hello my lovelies,

Another Sunday another review for you lovely people. So recently I have brought quite a few foundations and I thought I would start with reviewing this little baby. Tarte is a brand that in the past 6 months I have fallen in love with. I love how fun it is and the products I have tried I have been really impressed with. Recently I placed an order from Tarte which was a deal I just couldn’t refuse which included this foundation see here to find out what else I brought

So recently the Shape Tape foundations from Tarte have had an awful lot of press, good and bad. The person I am I of course wanted to see what it was all about and I was on the hunt for a new foundation. I decided to go for the matte version and this is what pretty much all my foundations are due to my oily complexion. When I was on the website I was so impressed by the shade range for a new launch, to be honest picking a shade online is so blooming hard to do but luckily I did manage to get a shade that does suit me.

As the Shape Tape concealer has been so well loved in the beauty world I just thought that I would immediately fall in love with the foundation. I have now learnt never presume!

The bottle is beautiful who doesn’t love a frosted glass bottle!? To be honest Tarte really hit the nail on the head every time when it comes to packaging I just love it and this one is no exception. I also adore that the foundation has a doe-foot applicator honestly it’s a game changer if you have never used a foundation that has one. Less mess!

Unfortunately that is where the goodness stops. I couldn’t tell you how excited I was to use this foundation. On application I just knew I was going to have issues. It took forever to blend in, I used beauty blenders, brushes the lot and it was like applying face paint. I mean I’m all up for taking a little more time to blend in but this was on another level. Instantly it didn’t sit right on certain areas of my face which was mainly under my eyes, around my nose and my upper lip. It just clumped together and looked awful.

I thought by adding concealer it may of aided the foundation but to be honest the foundation was is so dry and heavy that actually it made no difference. I quickly powder to try and stop it from getting any worse. I mean when you spend 20 minutes blending and for some miracle it blends ok  then you may be on to a winner but I just can’t seem to do this.

What makes it worse is that when you move onto a different part of your face which I normally do my eyes next I’ll be honest and say I am a little heavy handed. Normally if I get a bit of mascara on my cheek I grab a cotton bud and quickly remove it. Dab my beauty blender over it and it looks like nothing has happened. Not with this foundation. It literally removes the layer of foundation & concealer you have applied, when you try and put a little bit of concealer over it then it looks even worse. There is just seriously no room for error with this foundation.

I have tried so many different things to make this foundation work and I just can’t seem to.  I have tried different primers, no primer, different brushes/tools for applying the foundation and nothing seems to work. I just don’t know what to do with it. When it goes right it does look ok but it’s nothing groundbreaking. It’s just such a shame because I had such high hopes for this product and I have never been more disappointed.

For reference the colour I have is: Fair Light Neutral CFD1

If anyone has any tips for applying this then I would be grateful because to be honest I really don’t want to waste this. I just can’t believe Tarte would make a product this is so god damn awful I mean am I just using it wrong? I have never ever had these issues before with a foundation and I can’t express how gutted I am with it.

I don’t want to throw it away just yet I will give it the benefit of the doubt, although I don’t really know why. Let me know if you have tried this foundation and what your experience has been with it – maybe I have just have an off bottle?

If you want to try it for yourself or you want a little more information then see here it retails for a whopping £33!

Thank you for reading

Must Have Beauty Tools

Hello my lovelies,

So this is a topic I don’t often speak about on my blog, I’m not sure why because make up tools are so important. I told myself this year that I would speak more about this topic and I thought I would talk about the tools I just simply can’t live without. When it comes to tools there are a few companies that I have been quite loyal to including: of Real Techniques and Zoeva. For me they are affordable and pretty impressive. I have been delving into the world Spectrum and I have been quickly falling in love them. I do have other brands but really most of my brushes lie with those three brands.

I can’t stress how important having good brushes and tools are when applying make up. I’m not saying you should invest £100’s in brushes but just a few key tools will stand you in good stead. Make Up will never look flawless without the right tools!

Spectrum – A00 Brush see here

So annoyingly you can only pick this up a set but their sets are really good value for money. This works out to around £8 which for me is actually a bit of a bargain. Now, I use this for powder, and I love the density of this. It’s not too flimsy but it manages to apply powder with ease on the face whether this it is pressed or loose. I love the finish it gives me, and to be honest can we all appreciate how blooming gorgeous it is!?

Real Techniques – Contour Brush see here

Annoyingly this you can also only buy in a set – why do they do this!? To be honest Real Technique brushes were the first brushes I brought and they are still a hit with so many people now. The contour brush I do actually use for contouring, I find it the perfect shape to get into the hollows of my cheeks. It just seems to do all the work for me as I am awful at contouring but with this brush I just let the brush do it’s thing and actually it always looks decent – what more could you want?

Real Techniques – Setting Brush see here

This brush is amazing. I was really struggling to find the right brush for me with regards to highlight. Nothing did the job until I used this bad boy. I originally used this for powder under the eyes which was great but then I saw someone use this for highlight and it changed everything. It is the perfect shape for all of your highlighting needs and it is the only brush I will use. Luckily you can buy this individually and to be honest it’s well worth the money!

Zoeva – 317 Wing Liner Brush see here

I actually have a couple of these brushes in my collection as they work so well for brow application. I have so many different brushes in this shape but nothing seems to compare to this little baby. I find a lot of eyebrow brushes very stiff which makes it difficult to create a nice shape, this is fairly flexible which allows the movement to create the shape you need for the perfect brow. Again, so affordable and Zoeva have such a wide selection of brushes in different designs.

Crown Brush – C510 Pro Oval Shader Brush see here

I find this type of brush so hard to get hold of and for whatever reason brands just don’t believe this is an essential – but for me it definitely is. How are you meant to apply glitters or the main shadow on your lid? This little baby is perfect for both, I use it literally every day and to be honest I think I have around 4 of the same brush. To be honest I normally buy these from IMATS where you get a discount but £6 for this brush is amazing in my eyes – complete life saver.

Real Techniques – Powder Brush see here

So I don’t actually use this for setting powder in fact I use this for bronzer. I’m not to careful with application of bronzer, and this is the perfect brush to evenly distribute the powder. As it has so many hairs it effortlessly runs over my face creating a flawless, even base. I don’t to be honest have any other bronzing brush so I heavily rely on this little baby to see me through.

Zoeva – 114 Luxe Face Focus Brush see here

Another beautiful looking brush! I love the rose golden collection from Zoeva, they all look so damn pretty. So I use this brush for powdering under the eyes and setting my concealer into place. For me a large powder brush just doesn’t do the trick and it needs to be smaller and a little dainty when it comes to the eye area. In comes this brush, it is the perfect size and it is so damn soft! This brush is pretty versatile and I am sure you could use it for other things like highlight but I keep to one use per brush.

Beauty Blender – Sponge, Original see here

So I am sure everyone has heard of these. In recent years they have well and truly took the beauty world by storm. Now, yes they are a little pricey but in my opinion well worth the investment. I know a lot of people prefer the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponges but for me the original beauty blender just trumps it. The finish I get is amazing and I find that it gives such a better finish than any brush I have tried. I also use this to apply my concealer.

As I am sure you are aware, the best way to use this is to wet your blender, it works like an absolute treat and I don’t know where I would be without this little baby.

Real Techniques – Accent Brush see here

I don’t actually think this is sold anymore but the one in this set is very similar. I didn’t use this brush for years but recently I have been putting eye shadow on my lower lash line and every brush I tried just wasn’t do the right job. I wanted it to be precise I didn’t want to look like I had just been punched in the face. In walks this brush, I tried it one day and now I am in love. I use it near enough every day. My mum also has this brush and she have never used it so I now have two of these babies to alternate with. It’s such a good brush when it comes to detailing, so I supposed it can be used to multiple things. I’m sure there are a few of you out there that have this brush sitting unused, well here is your chance to whip it out – trust me life saver!

MAC – 221S Brush see here

Now this is a brush that I have mentioned a few times on my blog. You know the 217 brush that EVERYONE has – was you like me and a little disappointed by what it had to offer? I mean for a blending brush it’s alright but I have a lot cheaper brushes that do the same thing. Last summer I was lucky enough to have my make up done by a MAC MUA and she introduced me to this brush and to be honest I have never looked back. This is the perfect crease brush, in softness, size, blending power EVERYTHING. I honestly don’t know how I did my make up previously without this brush.

My only annoyance is that it is pretty pricey for a brush in my opinion, however I say that but I have recently picked up a second because I was scared to loose it. I mean some say a fool and their money are soon parted. I just say I know what I like and sometimes you just need to invest! Sometimes certain brushes are worth the investment and for me this is a massive winner on that front. Do I think all MAC brushes are worth their price tag, no. But this one I can’t just about justify.

Real Techniques – Cheek Brush

Sadly this was part of a limited edition collection which is no longer sold, I’m sorry! If you are after an alternative I would suggest the Spectrum C07 Luxe Tapered Sculptor Moving onto this baby, to be honest I have had this for years and always think this is the perfect brush when it comes to applying blusher. it is the perfect size for the apple of my cheeks and every blusher just seems to work well with the brush. It also is the perfect density so you never have to much on your brush and you look like a tomato which is great when you are heavy handed like me!

Let me know if you have used any of these tools before and what your thoughts are on them. What are your favourite brushes to use? I’m always open to welcome more brushes into my life!

Review – Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Lipstick

Hello my lovelies,

I’m back with another review, I love writing reviews mainly because I try so many products that it is nice to share with like minded people what I think of them. I read a lot of reviews especially when I am sat on the fence about a product and not sure whether I should invest my money. I will say though, this is my opinion and different products work for different people so don’t take this a gospel.

Now anyone that knows me, knows that I adore lipstick. In recent years it has been liquid lipstick but I will not apply make up without putting something on my lips. 97% of the time it’s matte because that’s what I prefer, personal preference. As I am a bit of a lipstick junkie I do try an awful lot of liquid lipsticks, some have been great and some have been god damn awful.

In walk these babies that are a relatively new product with Maybelline. I saw their range and thought do you know what let’s give them a try. Their shade range for a fairly new launch was pretty extensive which I was really impressed by. I was trying to pick a shade that I don’t really have in my collection which is pretty tough because I have so many. I decided to go for shade 95 Visionary and 15 Lover.

I really like the packaging, I know it’s about the product but its nice to appreciate what they look like because I am a complete sucker for packaging. I love that you can clearly see what colour it is rather than having to open it up. It’s a lot easier when you are searching through your collection finding a shade!

In the picture above for reference the top colour is 15 Lover and the bottom is 95 Visionary.

So onto the actual lipsticks. Now it has a doe-foot applicator which I love but it is a slightly different shape. It’s pointed at the end which is perfect for creating the precise line going around your lips – it makes life a lot easier. It also has in the middle of the applicator a hole. I’m really not sure what this adds to the application but it doesn’t hinder application in fact it’s quite a joy to apply.

These dry pretty quickly into place which I love because I’m not about fanning my lips for them to dry – it’s why I don’t paint my nails I just don’t have the patience. They go into a complete matte finish as the name suggests almost instantly. Something that really gives this formula extra points is that I never have lipstick marks around my cups. It literally stays in place all day even with a lot of eating and drinking.

This whole Super Stay business really is true I have never known a formula to stay this long. So much so that when I have been a little naughty and not removed my makeup from an evening out I wake up in the morning and to be honest it looks like I have just applied it. It’s perfect for when you are on the go and don’t have time to constantly top up your lipstick which really is the story of my life at the moment.

Now, my only annoyance is to do with the longevity of the lipstick. So it stays all day – great. But the struggle of removing this is unreal. I have used all my cleansers and potions to remove this and my god do you have to scrub. My lips hurt after I remove it I mean when I remove the purple lipstick if it isn’t all removed I look like I have bruises all round my lips. Not the greatest look!

Because I loved these so much I gifted one to my best friend as she is a complete liquid lipstick lover like me. She also had the same issue with removal – so I think there is a little issue here. I mean I have some amazing cleansers in my collection and seriously none of them remove it with ease – so a little word of warning there.

If you can see past the trickiness of removing the lipstick then actually this is the best formula of liquid lipstick on the market in my opinion. I am so impressed by them and for £9.99 it’s really a no brainer. I flipping love this lipstick and the shades I have I absolutely adore. For Maybelline to bring something out like this and blow out the likes of Rimmel, Kat Von D etc. I’m just in awe.

I will be buying so many more of these shades I just know it – although I think I need advice on how to remove it because it really is the only drawback that I have found. I wear these so often I just can’t get enough, until that is when I come to remove it and I get annoyed that I’m going to have to spend ages scrubbing my lips.

To find out more information or have a look at the full shade range see here

Let me know if you have tried these out before and what your favourite shades are.
